The ambient pieces demonstrate nothing new and drag on far too long without direction or interesting texture. The supposedly great pop single "Strange Lights" is a couple pachyderms short of an Elephant 6.

Footnote: My disgust is probably due to the fact that I listened to the album after getting Copia, easily one of the best of 2007 for me.

I totally agree with you. LONG LIVE ELUVIUM!!

Copia <<< Talk Amongst the Trees !!

Where was all this hype when TAtT came out?! It's so much more solid than Copia, which, at least for me, loses its steam halfway though.... Doesn't anyone else think so?!

That being said, I do REALLY, REALLY like "Indoor Swimming at the Space Station." Wink

Well, I agree. TAtT is perfect. But, when it came out, I'd never heard of Eluvium. I picked up TAtT in preparation for Copia (because Eluvium was getting a lot of hype on this board).

Don't confuse my love of Copia with some kind of distaste for Cooper's previous efforts. Talk Amongst... is one of the best ambient albums I've listened to in the past 10 years.

Oh, and as for the tour...April 26th why must you be so far away? arghh!!!

I was disappointed by Some Loud Thunder as well, I loved the first album, but this wasn't nearly as good as the first. Still enjoyable..but..meh...New Bloc Party was pretty boring. Dimmu Borgir's new album was probably the most disappointing. Frowner

I don't really think the new Dimmu is disappointing. I wasn't expecting much though.

Ted Leo's new one is good but kind of a let-down. Arcade Fire was a HUGE let down for me along with CYHSY.

Wilco's Sky Blue Sky wasn't a let down or something amazing, the direction that was taken was just pretty unexpected. I like it though.

Ted Leo's album is a letdown? It's way better than "Shake the Sheets" - for a 15 song album, I think it is very consistent, and enjoyable throughout!

Unfortunately, Have to agree with others here in their criticism of both "Deer" bands.

Have given Cryptograms a few spins now and actually find myself liking it less with each subsequent listen.

But my worst of year right now goes to Friend Opportunity...and I really liked Runners Four...but to be frank, her voice is just a non-stop deal breaker here. Worked for me on Runners, but that albums quicker, more nuggety structure suited the novelty of her vocal approach. Here, on longer, jammier songs, it just kills everything else the band is trying to do. I still like this band, but it may be time to see what they can do adding a legitimate vocalist to the mix.

Shake the Sheets was better than Living with the Living. However, LWTL is certainly not "worst of" anything, it's got some really solid songs on it.

I disagree with the first point, but I agree that Ted Leo doesn't deserve any mention on this thread.

I picked up CYHSY's Some Loud... and was thoroughly disappointed. I found it unlistenable save one or two tracks. I also wasn't terribly impressed by The One A.M. Radio... but not enough to put on a "worst of 2007 list"

I'm a big fan of electronica and most electronic-based music so of course with all the rave reviews of The Field's "from here we go sublime" I had to buy it. What a horrible experience it is everytime I play this album that i've tried so hard to like.

It's shallow, miserable, and so repetitive that I fail to see anything that even resembles art. The beats aren't original, the sounds are limp, and the voice sampling is just god awful.

If anybody hasn't heard this album but would like a good idea of what it sounds and feels like; just take a large wooden spoon and a stopwatch, smack yourself on the head with the spoon every half second until you reach 7 minutes. Then, stop for 10 seconds and repeat. Do this 10 times in a row and you'll understand what this album has to offer you.

I can't imagine how anyone could enjoy this pile of crap cd. Just my 0.02 centavos.

I didn't want to add another thread, but I was very disappointed with Linkin Park's new album Minutes to Midnight.

Most the songs don't match the great caliber of Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Many of the songs I think have rather simple choruses and intro, nothing like the complexities of the previous albums.

I am not saying the album is bad or worst of 2007. It's just I been waiting for the album since forever, hopping for them to somehow top HT and Meteora. They should stick to nu metal, and stop with punk/classic rock/ whatever they are trying to do. I don't want them to "grow" in their sound, and start cussing in their albums. Oh well, LP will remain one of my favorites of this decade.

We do not train to be merciful here. Mercy is for the weak. Here, in the streets, in competition. A man confronts you he is the enemy. An enemy deserves no mercy.

What's up Cobra Kai?

NO MERCY!!!

i think cryptograms and the fluorescent grey ep are arguably the best releases of the year, though i understand why people have difficulty accessing cryptograms because of it's uneven nature. try coming at it through the new ep perhaps.
