Imani Coppola : "The Black & White Album"

This album did get quite good reviews, and received a bit of exposure when 'Raindrops from the Sun' was featured on Grey's Anatomy, but overall the creator of 1997's hit song 'Legend of a Cowgirl' didn't quite gain as much public attention as I'd hoped. Hopefully 2008 will bring her into the spotlight with her new side project, Little Jackie, a spoof on Amy Winehouse that manages to be original and compelling on its own. myspace.com/littlejackiemusic , myspace.com/imanicoppola

Tori Amos : American Doll Posse

It really astonishes that it's popular currently to insult Tori Amos, but the fact remains that she is one of the most influential and consistently great songwriters that is still putting out superb new material. I admit that yes, the whole doll concept of her new album was gimmicky, but the songs themselves are very likeable to a larger audience while still being incredibly unique.

Siobhan Donaghy : Ghosts

It truly baffles me as to why this album didn't excel in her homeland of England. I guess that in a year where the likes of Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen were at the forefront of British music, classy, intelligent pop in the vein of Kate Bush had no place, which was such a shame.
