I would be more than happy to keep track of this thread if anyone is interested. You can list as many as you want but only your Top 5 will count (10 pts for 1st, 8 pts for 2nd, etc.). Please feel free to include box sets or imports, just make sure they were released in 2007. Thanks.
EDIT:
Instead of keeping score, which seems pretty pointless given the few submissions and the extraordinary number of reissues, I'll just recap everyone's picks. So far this is what we got:
BContrat:
01. Sly & the Family Stone: There's a Riot Goin' On 02. Joy Divison: Unknown Pleasures 03. Sonic Youth: Daydream Nation 04. Fennesz: Endless Summer 05. The Modern Lovers: The Modern Lovers
sk:
01. Radiohead - Boxset (theres no competition here i suposse with 7 radiohead albums!) 02. Pulp - Different Class (caue it still remains my favourite "pop" album of all time!) 03. Joy Division - Closer (with no comments) 04. Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation (double album=4 sides....thanks God i dont have to stand up n change every 3-4 tracks the side of the album... i m gonna miss the "scratch scratch" vinyl sounds of my very old record). 05. Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures (known pleasure)
philosopherEric:
01-03. Joy Division - Unknown Pleasure, Closer & Still 04. Various Artists - The Brit Box: UK Indie, Shoegaze, and Brit-Pop Gems of the Last Millenium 05. Robyn Hitchcock - I Wanna Go Backwards (Box)
ImmovableMotorist:
01. Joy Division - Closer/Unknown Pleasures/Still 02. Pulp - Different Class 03. Pink Floyd - Piper at the Gates of Dawn 04. Pylon - Gyrate + 05. Modern Lovers - The Modern Lovers
Maximum Jack:
01. The Complete Stiff Years: Dirty Looks/Turn it Up by Dirty Looks.
Before I bought this fabulous reissue, all I had heard by Dirty Looks is their brilliant "Let Go" single. Their self-titled debut, which is the first disc of this compilation, is Power Pop . . . no, Rock & Roll tour de force. I honestly don't know how this band wasn't more appreciated in their day-- they should have been all over MTV.
02. In the Pines by the Triffids.
Here's a band that had I heard them back in the day, would have been right up there with REM, Echo and the Bunnymen and their compatriots the Church in my pantheon of Velvet Underground-inspired college rock.
03. Live at Massey Hall 1971 by Neil Young.
Dear God. This is stunning. I've often wondered what it would have been like to have been sitting in the audience in 1971 and hearing "Ohio". Now thanks to this archival release (with a DVD!), I have some understanding.
04. The Greatest Cowboy Movie Never Made by the Saints.
I bought this just before New Year's, and I am so glad I did. I've already discussed this one here.
05. Sarolta Zaltnay by Sarolta Zaltnay.
Our resident obscurist, Crazed, recommended this in this thread and I'm glad I bought it.
Crazed:
01. Robert Forster/Grant McLennan -Intermission: The Best of the Solo Recordings 1990-1997
A collection of solo tracks from the singer/songwriters of the Go-Betweens, released a year or so after McLennan's untimely death.
02. Sarolta Zaltnay -Sarolta Zaltnay
See Max's description above.
03. Betty Davis -They Say I'm Different
The second of two Davis reissues. One time wife of Miles released two classic funk/soul/glam albums in early '70s (and a couple late '70s disco/funk lps) before slipping off into obscurity. Her s/t debut album is also highly recommended.
Please, keep 'em coming folks!

I was going to ask that same question. I remember the Modern Lovers album getting a reissue, and the Joy Division albums, but my mind is going blank on other stuff. Maybe Frank Black released a greatest hits this year?
----- I’ll be Ben Gazzara, you’ll be Gena Rowlands.

I agree. I can only think of three and of them I've only heard one so far (hopefully will get the other two by the end of the year...)
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation Robyn Hitchcock - I Wanna Go Backwards Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Oh, and weren't there a couple Fennesz reissues too?

All I can think of—besides the ones you mentioned is the Sonic Youth one. I think Sly and the Family Stone had some, as well as the U2 one and oh yeah, your favorite band, Genesis, as well.

I don't know if this counts, but Dirty Three put out a special edition reissue of Ocean Songs complete with a dvd of live footage that kicks major ass. It probably shouldn't count since the album is still in print, and they didn't remaster the music at all or anything, just added the dvd (which did i say kicks ass?)

EricG, Nmeilborg and FKA, I don't have a list (other than the ones I bought) but I'll see if I can find something-- or else if any of you find a list, feel free to post it here. I would hope that everyone would only vote for reissues that they bought and enjoyed. I mean, we're on the honor system here of course.
Crazed, yes January 15th seems to be the date everyone else is going with. I think artist compilations count as do various artist compilations like that really cool Rhino Brit Pop Box that I've got my eye on.
Shadrach and Either_Or, I definitely think that both Okkervil River's and Dirty Three's deluxe reissues should count. Also, that Shearwater Palo Santo reissue would fit nicely as well.
Hope that helps.

One more thing. It might be too much to ask, but I would really like to see annotated top 5 lists. I mean, you don't have to go crazy, but just a short blurb about each reissue, just in case the rest of us aren't familiar with it. Cool?

Wow, I was looking at the other lists and 2007 really sucks for me for reissues. In 2004-5-6 I could of made a top 10 or even 15 list, but for 2007 I don’t even know if I can make a top 3. I haven’t even listened to most of the reissues this year.

That is a 2006 re-release, the 2007 ones are Construction Time Again (1983), Black Celebration (1986), Ultra (1997) and Exciter (2001).
And just incase you people care (or not), the Klaus Schulze re-releases for 2007 are Blackdance (1974), Body Love Vol. 2 (1977), ...Live... (1980), Ballett 3 (2000) and Ballett 4 (2000). And as for his Richard Wahnfried albums, Trance Appeal (1996) is the only one this year.
