Well, I thought of mine first and it fits me and my current state. As for Eric’s, well he just likes to copy me because he really likes me, you want to join the club?

Just don’t tell Mr. Nougat, he gets angry. Big Grin Red Face

Actually I didn't even put 2 and 2 together on that. I was listening to that song the other day, and I like that line, so I made it my sig. It didn't even register that your signature was a line from that song too.

Sure Eric, likely story.

What? You need 30 posts for your votes to be counted? That kinda sucks. I've been visiting metacritic.com for 2 years and have just never been on the forums. so my opinion isn't valid?

not that i'm complaining, i'd be happy to post a few times to get my votes tallied, but it's a little rediculous. esspecally since half the people here have just been posting blocks of albums that they enjoy, instead of selecting just a few songs.

I fully support the 30 posts rule. It's the only way to ensure that people are not stacking the votes, and that they genuinely have an ongoing interest in music. In fact, I think the threshold should be higher.

Where? I just went through this entire thread and didn't find a single person posting albums.

Yes I think people have no fear for the middle man and that is why the song will never survive.

yeah I wish I had my pipe and slippers set out for me.

The funny thing about that song is I have been learning to play it on guitar from a youtube video. I have gotten used to the intimate softer version he does with it, I listened to the real version today and I almost like his version better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8FmAGrq0h0

I will try to post the first update tomorrow. It's a lot more time consuming than I had figured. A lot more songs coming in then albums. Who would have thought?

I wanted my list to be counted last year, but I didn't have enough posts, nor was I registered long enough, and even though I was bummed, I completely understand the rationale behind the rules. If you're going to try and argue against such airtight logic then you better come with a poll like hudson did last month. Wink

You've already got 5 posts, and you just registered today. You can't get another 25 posts over the course of the next month?

Has anyone ever thought of making some sort of one song from each album limit? Certainly, some albums may have two or so songs that are in the top 30 of the year, but I find it hard to believe that every song or over half of the songs from any album are top 30 material.

I wondered about that too, when you see people pick five songs from an album, but I am inclined to think people should be allowed to do what they want. Frankly, when you choose so many songs from one album, you are just wasting your votes, because there is no chance all of your choices are going to be reflected in the final list. Although another concern I have is that, if you think 5 of the best 30 songs of the year came from one album, you can't have had very broad exposure to music in the year. If you only bought 10 albums this year, then I guess inevitably each album is gonna kick up several of the best songs. I am more interested in people whose exposure to music and whose musical taste is broad enough that their votes represent a meaningful assessment of a good cross-section of the year's music.
