This seems like the "best" place to put this.

First off, all Administrators and Mods are not allowed to vote or even comment. Second, I'd prefer that you post a comment before you vote. This is a non-binding vote, but it will be used to determine, based on the results, what to do with our "future magnanimous dictator".

Is Hudson your Main Man, who expresses your innermost feelings about this fascistic site where you all feel uncomfortable to express yourself?

Is Hudson just an innocuous member who neither annoys you nor represents you?

Is Hudson the scum of the Earth? Is he someone you no longer wish to see at this site?

Question:
Should Hudson be banned from Metacritic Forums?

Choices:
No. He has a right to his opinion.
Maybe. He's not totally annoying, but sometimes he crosses the line.
Who cares?
Probably. He sometimes is OK, but more often, he's a dick.
Hell, Yes! No ifs, ands or buts.

I don't remember a thing he's said or done. So I could care less if he stays or not.

LOL! What did he do this time? I voted "Who Cares" because I think it would set a bad precedent to start kicking people for being themselves. Of course, if he was an ass recently, I probably would have missed it, and not know how bad it is/was.

I think the answer to your question can be found here and here, not to mention the best poster/worst poster polls which someone mercifully deleted.

I generally try to ignore the idiotic controversies that come up around here, but this one's getting pretty hard to avoid. I'm in favor of a final probation.

I'm completely anti-censorship, so even though i have had my run ins with him, I'm against banning anyone.....unless they rubbish Australians. Wink

I'm all for Censorship, so I guess we could boot Ishmael too while we are at it, because he disagrees with me.
... or not.

In all seriousness though, I think it's icky how much of a rise Hudson gets out of shaking people up. And I think it degrades the maturity level of the board. But at the same time I don't want to see anyone kicked out. If there was some compromise disciplinary action that could take place for people like this. Maybe even a temporary suspension of access, rather than a perminant banning.

NO. I do think that the moderators should stop bullying him every time he has something the least bit contentious, annoying, or arrogant to say - especially FragileKidA.

I think it bodes well that for this board, users like HUDSON are thought of as the lowest breed. You Metacritic moderators live in a naive, sheltered little world of online discussion if you think his posts are outlandish!

There, I said it. You now have permission to attack me in the future as retribution for my unpopular opinion. Smiler

I would love to get him out of here for the sake of new users who doesn't understand that he doesn't reflect our site in any way, but I'd rather not ban him..

..although all he ever does is troll. So, if he was banned, I wouldn't care.

I'm fine either way (although that 600 posts thread was pretty funny).

I don't really mind if he stays in the forums or not. He's sometimes annoying, but some other time he's pretty funny. It's our lil' troll bastard!

When I first read Mark's post, I assumed it was a joke. Apparently not. I haven't followed Hudson's posts much, so I can't comment substantively. If he gives some people the shits, they can always put him on their "ignore" list. I say let him stay.

Surely this is a decision for the Moderators, though? It seems to me that 600 posts should give a clear indication of whether he's spoiling the site for others.

I gotta say, I can't think of any good reason to ban him... he's kind of a dick but he's a funny dude. At the end of the day this is an internet forum, not a kindergarten class.

Although I do feel pretty bad for that dude that posted his pretty thin but well-intentioned song for comments and got a new one torn. As far as I'm concerned, that's the only thing he's done that's been anywhere near justifying censorship.

While I sometimes get annoyed at his posts, I don't think he should be banned.

He tends to bring out the best and worst in people. Like the anti-karma list - classic!!! I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard!!!

If you are put off by his antics, ignore him. The fact that we have a whole thread on whether he should stay or go just gives him more power. It's the attention he wants. But, if we stop taking the bait, he might conform his behavior or simply go away.

I didn't realise he was so reviled. Much like a Labour MP, my vote's available to the highest bidder.

LMAO!

Although he can be offensive, from what I have experienced, it's not that bad. At least he speaks his mind, I think it would be unfair to ban him for doing that.

Honestly, I can't help but think that it's all an act on his part. I'm assuming an Andy Kauffman-esque performance piece. On those terms, I think it's kind of funny. Stupid-funny, of course, but kind of funny.

Sustained over too long, I think it would wear thin, but I don't imagine anyone has the stamina to act as an aggro-magnet for very long. I wouldn't ban him, but, if he were to get abusive or truly confrontational, I would just shun him. Every time someone responds to his most outrageous posts, it just encourages him. There is nothing more disheartening than starting a thread, and having no one respond. It makes you feel like spam!

I voted "Probably...". I've never been able to understand the motives of one who exists to make other people feel like shit.

Thing is, Hudson is obviously not some 15 year old with nothing better to do. I can tell he's got some brains, is witty and clever...but he uses his power for evil and, imo, that is worse than the 15 year old troll. He knows better.

It's not so much the MC regulars I'm concerned for, it's the new person, checking this site out in anonymity (like I did for months before I joined), wondering if they should sign up. I imagine Hudsons' "contributions" would give them pause.

Hudson's like the one person in the office who brings everyone down. Sure he may show up to work on time, but hell if he's making others miserable, you've gotta take action of some sort.

Maybe don't ban him yet, but certainly give him an ultimatum, a final warning a "come to Jesus". After that, it's entirely up to him.
