Is Josh Ritter-The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter. It's a phenomenally well done folk/indie/rock record which hasn't gotten the attention it deserves from metacritic users because it hasn't yet received a metacritic score. However, if you're really a review whore, do a few searches and you'll find it's very well received.

It's great, great stuff.

Thoughts?

Thank you! Finally someone else is willing to talk about Josh Ritter. I have mentioned him several times and people just kindof pass it over. There is a thread in the "Alternative" section now, that was started in the "Indie" section, about it. It was moved after it was pointed out that Josh is on a major label.

Anyway. The album is absolutely amazing. I don't understand why this hasn't smashed everything to pieces. It's not the album of the year, but it is so solid it's crazy.

Listen to "Mind's Eye" and tell me he didn't steal that piano and guitar beat out of the back of Spoon's tour van while they were sleeping. And the lyrical depth in "The Temptation of Adam" requires ten listens just to catch everything, and another ten to make all the connections.

Yeah, seriously guys, Shadrach's been begging for some input on this record over here. His attempts have been met with nothing but crickets and bad John Ritter jokes.

I'd say it sounds pretty good so far, but I'm notoriously slow about formulating strong opinions on albums.

Again, I'm gonna have to object to the creation of a thread in the 2007 forum just for one album, especially when there's already a thread on this exact subject in Alternative.

RavingLunatic should change his name to ThreadNazi.

I think RL's point is a fair one, considering there are half a dozen threads specifically for this kind of post. I'm glad you're passionate about this album, but starting a new thread just to mention one album is unnecessary. If all of us started a thread for our favourite album, things could get messy.

I will check this album out though.

I didn't start the thread. And I also agree that his point is a fair one. We don't need fifteen different threads about the same thing.

I don't think there is anything wrong with having a single thread devoted to an artist on a music discussion forum though. On a similar note, I sortof get annoyed when new board members make comments and they are firmly directed to move their comments to a thread with 1000 posts already in it.

Let's just have a little more mercy on people new to the board. I'm not addressing these comments to anyone inparticular. I have nothing wrong with RavingLunatic and my previous comment to about him was completely a joke.

It may be a tired refrain, but it bears repeating: due to the lack of inflection available in an internet exchange, a little Smiler goes a long way (corny though they may be). fyi, I too perceived a biting edge in your response.

I didn't realize he was new to the board or I would've made sure to say something nice to him. My mistake. Point still stands though.

I really liked the way that John Ritter acted in Problem Child, those movies are great. Who's with me?!

This thread needs to be moved to the Bad Humor section. And while we are at it. Let's just throw everyone a bone and start a thread in the Movies section about John Ritter, because it seems everyone has a real passion in that area.

Problem Child 3: Junior In Love

Check out the review giving it 10 stars at the bottom.

Anyways, after a few listens I still think this album is slightly above mediocre. At times it's really interesting, but it's quite dull at others.

Shadrach - I'm listening to Ritter's latest right now. I liked what I've heard thus far... but I'm also slow to make any real judgements. I did find his last two to be strong releases.
