Tanz der Lemminge is my favorite album of theirs so far. Also just got into them this year. I've had mp3s sitting around for a while, but it took me some time to get to giving them a decent listen.

I recently listened to some Beulah I've had sitting around for a long time and discovered I really like the Coast Is Never Clear. I especially like the song "Gravity Is Bringing Us Down". It's good stuff to just chill out and listen to while you study.

Liking The Essex Green. They were off of my radar last year. On the low key side of the E6 continuum.

Joy Division- Unkown Pleasures- This is the definition of a perfect album. Favorite tracks in order "New Dawn Fades," "Day of the Lords," and "She's Lost Control." Once my top 100 comes out (still in progress) expect to see this one very high. I'll come back and edit this post with some more "New to Me" for the year.

Yes. This band, which eventually became Crowded House, had some pretty cool singles, namely "I Got You".

On 'Second Thoughts' or 'mental notes', 'second thoughts' was the reworking of 'mental notes' which is more jazzy/more space, not as pop arrangements, "late last night" "time for a change" is what you like

Three acts that debuted in 2006 that I discovered in 2007 were El Perro del Mar, My Latest Novel, and Peter von Poehl. Some that debuted earlier were Herman Dune, Patrick Wolfe, Blonde Redhead, and Josh Ritter. One that I knew from the '90's but hadn't paid much attention to was Supergrass, whose 2005 album Road to Rouen is pretty fantastic. I discovered last.fm in 2007 and the number of bands I follow has since exploded.

Even though they're a band I should have checked out years ago, I never owned any New Order records until this year. I picked up Substance and Technique earlier in the year, and I really dig the sound they've got. Substance is packed full of great, fun singles.

Also: Leonard Cohen, Neu!, the last two Pavement albums (especially Brighten The Corners.)

I'm listening to some Efterklang right now on MySpace. I think I'll have to pick this up.

I'm looking for Russian Militant Black Metal. Semi-good production is a plus, as are clean vocals (if kept to a minimum). Also looking for vocals in Russian. Basically like a Russian version of Absurd...

Actually, the song I like most is from Tripper.
