I picked that one up as well, but still haven't checked it out. F&F is starting to lose its sex appeal though. Sometimes i have sex with the music, so what?

I know you have sex with music, but if you decide to have sex to music, I would highly suggest Of Montreal. It's a great sex album

That album is one of the few instances were something was incredibly revered, and it actually lived up to its reputation for me. It took a little time to really catch fire, but I'd most certainly include Aeroplane in my top 20 albums of all time now. Mangum's just got something in his voice that makes him sound completely sincere, which I find lacking with many musicians. Also the complimentary musicianship (brass, saws) is very underrated. Mangum gets nearly all of the credit, but without these additions it would just be another singer/songwriter's album.

his voice is the first thing that really caught me saying to myself "this sounds good". it goes well with the instruments sound. i pretty positive that it'll grow on me. but i was kinda put off by the bagpipes on Untitled(i think)

i'm discovering Sonic Youth (yeah i know, i'm late) and despite all the naysayers here, after listening to Goo, i'm left to picking up my brains off the floor, so much has it blown my mind away i'm not sure why i started with Goo. i got a bunch off the net but didn't want to start with their best one (from what i've read Daydream Nation) from fear of not liking and not being able to listen to the rest. do you guys have any advice as to which order i should listen to their albums?

Goo is as good a place to start as any. I'd go backwards and get Daydream next, then Sister. Those really are the best three they did. If you're hooked, then get Dirty next. If not, you can stop there.

Goo is probably my favorite Sonic Youth album, after that it's Dirty, then Sonic Nurse... How can you NOT love Sonic Nurse?

Haha, I listened to Goo in its entirety yesterday... and "Titanium Exposé" alone about 7 times. I LOVE that song. I agree that Goo is probably a good place to start, though their last three albums have been relatively accessible compared to their earlier stuff. It might be easier to start with those, then just go head-first into their wilder stuff. Nevertheless, Goo, Daydream Nation, and A Thousand Leaves are my favorites.

Because "Unwind" is a completely underrated, forgotten gem of theirs. It builds to such a beautiful, nuanced, subtle climax that is amazing. And "Skip Tracer" is easily one of the top all-time Lee Renaldo songs. All of the Kim songs are great too, but mainly because it has "Diamond Sea", the greatest thing they recorded! Washing Machine isn't my favorite album of theirs, but its still pretty awesome.

Battles . This feels new, exciting and represents an opportunity for popular music to take a diversion.

Sit down for this one: I'd never even heard of Andrew Bird until I joined this forum. In my defence, I don't know anyone else who has heard of him. I think he must be banned in Scotland! So, I've been listening to all his albums, repeatedly. I thank you all. Next I'm planning to listen to some band called The Beetles or something. Anyone heard of them?

I never delved into Jan Jelinek's ambient oriented solo work until this year. I got Tierbeobachtungen (try saying that five times fast) and it has been in constant rotation. If you are a fan of organic ambient I suggest you check him out. I have also listened to Kosmischer Pitch a couple times, and while it is definitely more influenced by Jelinek's Farben microsound I still love it.

I picked up the re-issues of Pavement's Wowee Zowee and Slanted & Enchanted. I think S&E's a bit overrated, but Wowee Zowee may very well end up being one of my favorite albums. Oh, and Venetian Snares' Rossz Csillag Allat Született, which is also really good, but will probably be the only Venetian Snares album I own, after hearing some of his other work. Except for maybe Winter In The Belly of a Snake...anyone know if it's worth buying?
