Olivia Tremor Control have way too many noisy, boring, experimental tracks on their albums to make me want to listen to them. The pop songs are good though. And I guess a few of the Green Typewriter songs aren't bad.

I hate the new "cannot include old UK releases in this years list" rule. Peter Bjorn and John, and Lily Allen have both been 07 albums for me, and I love em both (especially those Swedes).

That's a rule now? That kind of sucks for us over here in America who can't get our hands on CDs as early as the UK does. (without paying ~$25 for imports) Bad rule I wanted to put PB&J on my list. "Young Folks" is such a great song that I wouldn't have minded the rest of the album being average, but it's consistently good.
The only surprising and great "new to me" CD of 2007 is Twinkle echo by casiotone for the painfully alone. Things we lost in the fire by Low is great too but I prefer the great destroyer. Lonely dear (from this year) is just ok, if not boring.

I like listening to Dusk at Cubist Castle in its entirety, for what that's worth. While we're talking OTC, does anybody know what the story is for Circulatory System's upcoming lp?
I just downloaded the Peter Bjorn and John album Writers Block. This is a pretty good album. I've had "Young Folks" for a while, but the rest of this really doesn't sound much like it. Its got a lot more going on. Its real shoegazy in spots. Other tunes are kind of folk/pop like Beck maybe. Good album.

I got more CDs today and got a free eMusic trial: Animal Collective - Feels Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - s/t Frightened Rabbit - Sing The Greys The Rapture - Out Of The Races & Onto The Tracks
I've really been enjoying Animal Collective, even though I didn't think I'd like it at all. "Grass" and "The Purple Bottle" are great, I don't know how I overlooked this before.
Frightened Rabbit came out in the UK last year, I think. Really solid record.
Hearing CYHSY's self-titled album made me realize how bad the follow-up is, even though I probably don't like the s/t as much as most people here do.
And The Rapture's always good. Very fulfilling purchases
EDIT: Forgot Voxtrot. The Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives EP is fantastic.
i've had Cat Power's The Greatest for a while now and thought it was good. but i didn't know anything else of hers so i went out and got You Are Free, Moon Pix and What Would the Community Think. They are all excellent and i might actually like them better than The Greatest.
Mix a little folly with your plans: It is sweet to be silly at the right moment.

Their debut was something I enjoyed for a few months, but had pretty much zero staying power for some reason. I think the same abbrasive vocal style that initially made Clap Your Hands interesting was their death for me. They in fact fell so far off of my radar that I haven't listened to their follow-up yet. My impression is that I'm not missing a whole lot.

I actually hated the old Clap Your Hands stuff for a while, and it took me a loooooong time to get over that voice. Now I enjoy it and it's something I listen to fairly regularly.
The new one... eh. Hasn't really caught me.
------ Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

I am really enjoying Girl Talk - "Night Ripper" which is something I thought that I would hate, since I don't like rap much.
My favorite 2007 artists so far are Essie Jain and The Scarring Party. Jain has deep powerful vocals surrounded by sparse arrangements, which perfectly frame her voice. The Scarring Party is very obscure, but they do vaudvillian music mostly about death. If you like Tom Waits or just musical weirdness than they will probably be for you.
It ain't hallelujah, but it might as well have been.

Great brit-pop album and these guys's only album. Reminds me of early Radiohead at times. The singer's got a great, pure voice. Great stuff.

Paper Airplanes- Boyhood Indie rock similar to a mix between the Arcade Fire and Built to Spill, it's pretty great. I would recommend it to almost anyone who likes indie at all.
Racco-oo-oon- Is The Night People I love this cd(good thing too, it took forever for me to find). Sort of like Animal Collective, but with more noise and less pop.
The Goslings- Granduer of Hair This is to me what Loveless was in the 90's, adds layers upon layers of noise and feedback over subtle vocal to make a pretty epic album, probably would have been #1 on my list last year if I had heard it in time.

Yeah, the Night Ripper album was pretty fun. Sooo many samples... Girl Talk's other stuff kinda sucked though.

Having been listening to Menomena's latest "Friend and Foe", I decided to go back to hear an earlier album of theirs which I also did not have, "I Am the Fun Blame Monster." Well, boy, am I glad I did that. It's terrific, and in fact, I like it quite a bit more than "F&F". Well, it's new to me!
