Here is the third and final playlist I will make. I think that this is the strongest one, from top to bottom, that I made. It’s also the one that I took the most time out to complete. Either way, I like it quite a bit. I burned myself a copy of it and am enjoying it right now.
I’d like to thank Twinkie for coming up with this idea, it was very clever and as it’s evident, a lot of people enjoyed doing it. I liked coming on here and seeing what different people were putting together. It reminds you that there are a bunch of really good songs out there. Some are on albums filled with amazing songs and some are on albums where there is very little quality around it.
It was interesting to note that of the three mixes I made, only four artists/bands were represented once on each mix. They were: The National, Spoon, Animal Collective and Bright Eyes. The Bright Eyes was kind of cheating since I had “Lime Tree” on two different mixes. This wasn’t because I had to find a 13th song but rather because it is quite simply one of my top five songs of the year. The other three albums, well they are top ten quality for sure. Anyways, enough rambling, here it is:
Mix #3: 1. Radiohead – “15 Step” (In Rainbows) 2. Spoon – “The Ghost of You Lingers” (Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga) 3. Of Montreal – “Cato as a Pun” (Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?) 4. The National – “Squalor Victoria” (Boxer) 5. Modest Mouse – “Parting of the Sensory” (We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank) 6. Dr. Dog – “Weekend” (We All Belong) 7. Okkervil River – “You Can’t Hold the Hand of a Rock and Roll Man” (The Stage Names) 8. Sunset Rubdown – “For the Pier (and Dead Shimmering)” (Random Spirit Lover) 9. Animal Collective – “Derek” (Strawberry Jam) 10. Arcade Fire – “No Cars Go” (Neon Bible) 11. Arctic Monkeys – “Old Yellow Bricks” (Favourite Worst Nightmare) 12. Wilco – “On and On and On” (Sky Blue Sky) 13. Bright Eyes – “Lime Tree” (Cassadaga) 14. Loudon Wainwright III – “Passion Play” (Strange Weirdos: Music from & Inspired by Film, Knocked Up)

My 1st mix was kinda too down/moody in most parts(still a great mix) So, I worked on a more upbeat one. A mix I tried to incorporate diff sounds as well as mixing well from song to song....
Again, working around one song...I started this mix with #5 Both Eyes Tight Shut, and built around that:
1. Farewell to the Pressure Kids - Kevin Drew w/BSS 2. I Feel It All - Feist 3. Computer Camp Love - Datarock 4. SW - Blonde Redhead 5. Both Eyes Tight Shut - Kammerflimmer Kolektief 6. Mango Picckle Down River - MIA 7. Capital G - NIN 8. Bunny Ain't No Kind Of Rider - Of Montreal 9. New Yok I Love You - LCD Soundsystem 10. Ugly Primadonna - Datarock 11. Run Pig Run - Queens of the Stone Age 12. The Greater Good - NIN
***I like the #5 - #8 range of styles that blend well. Datarock loosens the mix up after moody bits, and I realize their album is better than I thought. Sex Me Up is a great song I had at #10 but is #11 on the album...better tune though.
Try this mix if ya got all the songs!!! Cheers.

Maybe at the end of the year we could have a year end list like this. In addition to metacritic user's top songs, we could have favourite track in each position, favourite track 1, track 2 and so on.
We could just tabulate these lists but obviously sequencing and flow have been taken into acount and wouldn't be relevant in an end of year list of this nature. Unless we voted for out favourite playlist.
The head of state has called for me, but I don't have time for him

I think that Mike said he would do it and I’m perfectly fine with you guys planning something like that and Mike could be in charge of it—if he wants to do it.
That way at the end of the year we could all have a CD entitled “2007 MC Playlist.”

A lot more thought and effort went into this one than my first mixtape. Flow, transitions and mood were all placed above just getting my absolute favorite tracks of the year onto one playlist. Despite a lot of tracks I really love, it's almost nothing but compromise, only getting my absolute favorite song off a specific album in one or two cases. But I like this mix a lot; incorporating a little post rock, ambient, synthy electronic and shoegaze, I went for music that sounded dense, layered, airy. Because I don't own too many albums from this year that overtly qualified, this drifts off into a few more genres, specifically near-classical music with Venetian Snares and Prefuse 73. This wasn't as easy as a few other concepts I tossed around (which will be up soon, if all goes well), but it was immensely rewarding to get something that, beyond a mildly unimpressive transition between 2 and 3 and a bit of wonkiness around 12, works incredibly well.
