I made this before reading the rest of the lists here. I really tried to focus on continuity by making sure the songs flowed into each other smoothly. Many times when I create a mixtape I'll group the sadder songs together (6,7,8) before bringing the listener back up with happier songs (9,10).
1."Get Innocuous" LCD Soundsystem 2."Unsolved Mysteries" Animal Collective 3."Accident & Emergency" Patrick Wolf 4."Balaclava" Arctic Monkeys 5."Du Ska Inte Tro Att Det Ordnar Sig" Dungen 6."On" Bloc Party 7."Reckoner" Radiohead 8."Little Cream Soda" The White Stipes 9."Fans" Kings of Leon 10."Girl Sailor" The Shins 11."Ada" The National 12."West" Menomena
I'd like to add that I think that while bloc party has been the whipping boy this year for crappy records, 'On' is quite a good song. Imagine if Radiohead wrote this song, people would probably like it a lot more and the violins don't sound like much of departure from 'Reckoner's violins anyway...

I haven't read many peeps lists yet, I wanted to make mine first. I'm pretty satisfied with it, even though I left out a few heavy hitters.
Also, I'm with EricG: one of my friends and I used to always go by the track 3 and 5 rule. They were THE songs. I honestly used to think it was a marketing thing.
1. Sleeping Lessons - The Shins 2. You Are My Face - Wilco 3. You Got Yr Cherry Bomb - Spoon 4. Myriad Harbour - New Porno's 5. Armchairs - Andrew Bird 6. A Sentence of Sorts in Konsvinger - Of Montreal 7. Ain't It Strange - Dr. Dog 8. Antichrist Television Blues - Arcade Fire 9. Rag & Bone - The White Stripes 10. Roll the Credits - Peter, Bjorn & John 11. Let the Wolves Howl at the Moon - Super Furry Animals

I made another list while trying to avoid all the "heavy hitters" for the most part, which ended up with a very Americana-esque theme to it:
1) Or, the Whale - "Call and Response" 2) Papercuts - "John Brown" 3) Phosphorescent - "Wolves" 4) John Vanderslice - "White Dove" 5) The Angels of Light - "Not Here, Not Now" 6) Magnolia Electric Co. - "A Little at a Time" 7) Vic Chesnutt - "Splendid" 8) Steve Earle - "Oxycontin Blues" 9) Deer Tick - "Not So Dense" 10) Nina Nastasia and Jim White - "I Come After You" 11) Ola Podrida - "Eastbound" 12) Blitzen Trapper - "Country Caravan" 13) Josh Ritter - "Empty Hearts"

1)The National - Fake Empire 2)Black Kids - I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance You 3)Spoon - You Got Yr Cherry Bomb 4)LCD Soundsystem - Someone Great 5)Radiohead -All I Need 6)The Field -Silent 7)Arcade Fire - The Well and the Lighthouse 8)Shocking Pinks - Emily 9)Interpol -Who Do You Think? 10)Deerhunter - Hazel Street 11)Battles - Race Out
I'll probably add some more songs on the end later. But I haven't listened to many albums that have more than say, 11 or so, songs on them this year.

I've put some thought into this...and I think the flow from song to song is right. Listening to PJ last night made me want to build around song 6: Broken Harp.
1. Wilco - Either Way 2. Bjork - Wanderlust 3. Of Monteal - Cato As A Pun 4. Dinosaur Jr. - Back To Your Heart 5. Modest Mouse - Parting Of The Sensory 6. PJ Harvey - Broken Harp 7. The New Pornograghers - Unguided 8. Crowded House - A Sigh 9. Low - Your Poison 10. Radiohead - Videotape 11. Amon Tobin - Straight Psyche 12. Wilco - On And On And On
#4 was tough....wanted Amon Tobin's Killer Vanilla #9 was second toughest...Crowded HOuse -Silent House or The National's Guest Room was in contention

You know, I used to like the Wilco album a lot more than I do now. But it is book ended by two awesome songs that respectively open and close the album very nicely. They are easily, two of the best songs of the year—for me.

I liked Jay's concept of building the mix around a song, so I started with PJ Harvey (just like he did ) then found that I could fit my favorite Spoon track of the year in there (I've been looking for a place to put it, but nothing seemed to mesh with it) so then, I get to Radiohead, then go to Blitzen Trapper, which made sense, but the last part of "Sci-Fi Kid" was extremely electronic, so I ran with that concept, then decided I was getting tired of the electronic bleeps and closed it out with some soulful hip hop. I'm not really sure what to think, but IMO it's unique to say the least.
1. "Wandering" World's End Girlfriend 2. "The Ghost of You Lingers" Spoon 3. "The Dress" Blonde Redhead 4. "When under Ether" PJ Harvey 5. "All I Need" Radiohead 6. "Sci-Fi Kid" Blitzen Trapper 7. "Opening Up (Ce Soir on Danse)" Chromeo 8. "Burst Generator" The Chemical Brothers 9. "Fire Riddim" EdIT 10. "The Pulse" Digitalism 11. "Simply Amazin" Blu and Exile 12. "Homecoming (Ft. Chris Martin)" Kanye West 13. "The Perfect Beat (Ft. Krs-One)" Talib Kweli 14. "There Is Danger" Wax Tailor 15. "Outro" Thes One
I know I've made a lot of mixes, so I'll probably just pick three, repost them, and disregard the others in my 'count.'

. Just kidding, I did that to appease all the haters, and to ensure that Boxer had a track in every spot up to 12. I hope it crushes the shit out of Radiohead and Sunset Rubdown in the polls this year. Pleasant dreams...
On a serious note though, I've had problems falling asleep all my life. As much as I've experimented with it, music hasn't helped in the least no matter how soothing, or boring. Sorry.

Please take this in the spirit of fun, but wouldn't your Frankie Mix put you to sleep? My fave songs from the album are the last two, so I'd probably sequence those first. Remember, this is a joke, Son! I'm happy to see that half of your Top 10 looks suspiciously similar to mine, but even if I didn't feel that way, I'd be happy that you posted what you wanted.

There were a few spots I found ridiculously deep and others very thin. 1,2,4, and 6 were just so deep it was almost impossible to pick a song, where as 5,8,9, and 11 were extremely thin.

Wow, challenges like this are the reason I first signed onto this forum, thanks Twinks. So here it is. I goofed with my top 12 until this came out. In general I'm pleased but the transition between 10 and 11 is rough and 7 messes up the RAG flow of 6 thru 9 but be that as it may here it is...... for now.... I reserve the right to update at the end 'o' the year.... okay?
1. 15 step - Radiohead - In Rainbows 2. Up the Cuts - Against Me! - New Wave 3. Men's Needs - The Cribs - Men's Needs, Women's Needs. Whatever 4. Jimmy - M.I.A. - Kala 5. Sea Legs - The Shins - Wincing the Night Away 6. Eddie's Ragga - Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga 7. Watch the Tapes - LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver 8. Ragoo - Kings of Leon - Because of the Times 9. Rag & Bone - The White Stripes - Icky Thump 10 Everything I Am - Kanye West - Graduation 11. Ghostship - Menomena - Friend and Foe 12. 505 - Arctic Monkeys - Fovourite Worst Nightmare 13. Running the World - Jarvis Cocker - Jarvis (yeah I know it was the 14th song on an album released in 2006 in Britain, but it was hidden on track 13 and released in the states on April 3, 2007)
