That or too old.

I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor I was back to pondering my mortality.

Not true. Sky Blue Sky fans are all shaking their canes at you right now, collectively yelling, "Get off my lawn, you rotten kids!"

I regret having not given Paramore a chance before I submitted a list. Def would have been top 20.

I have no idea what the hell I was thinking when I had Stendeck's album, Faces, in the 30s on my list. It's a top 20 album for sure. It just knocked my socks off today. Best electronic album I've heard in a long time.

Like I stated in teh best of '07 thread... how's I miss the new Les Savy Fav? I saw a lot of you talking about it and... I... well.... just didn't go for it.

Now I feel stupid. Top 10, probably. I was thinking either right before or right after Favourite Worst Nightmare

I'm def. down for a collab. effort.

I'm actually starting all the way back at 3/5 and going all the way up through Let's Stay Friends. I frequently do that with of Montreal (I listen to way too much of Montreal) because it helps me get a great grasp on the entire catalogue and hear the progression. It's cool to tie things together.

I'm at Go Forth now, having only previously heard Inches. I'm impressed and really psyched to see them a week from now.

They seem to have dropped out a lot of the thick, jumbled, post-punk in favor of thinner, more garage-styled punk on Go Forth. They manage to pull off both sounds beautifully.

Do you like this as a catch phrase? They play "switchblade guitars"? Inches is a Monster, but so is this.

I think that definitely works.

I love the names of their songs. They're pretty fresh. (just a random thought looking over tracklistings).

P.S. I saw ginny's post in the list section. She should come around the wolves' den more, WinkWink

Man, I sure hope I never meet you haha

I meant to get that LSF record on my last trip to Knoxville but totally forgot. I spent well over my limit anyway, but damn. Oh well, between LSF and the Black Dice, I think 2007 will be a year that keeps giving (Oh, and I finally got my copy of Magic in the mail yesterday!).

Sunset Rubdown - Random Spirit Lover
St. Vincent - Marry Me

These definitely belonged in my top 20. I finally purchased Sunset Rubdown and am having a lot of fun listening to it. I kept holding off because of the Animal Collective comparisons, but honestly, I still don't like AC but I love this. So I guess it's possible to differ on those. St. Vincent I sadly forgot about and definitely shouldn't have.

My song list would be very different if I redid it. I based it on my album list and overloaded it with songs from several artists. Had I waited to post it, I would have included other songs I loved, such as "Savannah Smiles" and "Make a Plan to Love Me." Also I posted it before I got the White Stripes - I'm torn between "You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told)," "300 M.P.H. Torrential Outpour Blues," and "A Martyr for My Love for You," all competing for best song on Icky Thump. Then from the albums mentioned above: "Paris Is Burning" from St. Vincent, and I'd have to pick one from Sunset Rubdown, although I'm not sure which yet.

And yes, there is way too much music to digest in a given year, especially if you actually buy your music. Smiler There are still any number of albums in the back catalogues of artists I like that I haven't gotten yet because I've been too busy buying new music. I'm determined to change that this year.

I just picked up A Place To Bury Strangers' self-titled yesterday and it probably would have been top 20. I didn't have very many straightforward rock albums on my list this year, and this album fills that niche. I don't generally like music this influenced by shoegaze (I usually find it boring) but this album keeps me interested. It's just a loud, powerful rock album. Overall much better than I expected. "To Fix The Gash In Your Head" and "I Know I'll See You" are standouts, although really all the songs are at least good.

Broken Social Scene presents Kevin Drew – Spirit If…
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Is Is EP
Low – Drums and Guns

First of all, you guys were spot on about the Kevin Drew album. For Broken Social Scene fans, it’s a must and a great addition to their catalog. I agree that it is more accessible than their 2005 self-titled album—which I really like—and I should have looked into it much sooner.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs EP is a nice surprise. I remember seeing them on Letterman a while back in promotion of the EP and I really liked the song they played. I remember different people recommending it but I just never got around to it. I am a huge fan of their first album and Is Is reminds of it a lot. I think Jack said it best, “five songs and not a second wasted”—or something to that effect.

And finally the Low album. I haven’t heard it a lot but I do like it quite a bit. I know that its been championed around these forums by multiple members and I should have checked it out sooner, another great find.

I guess if I waited until the last day to post my list I would have gotten around to these but I didn’t. But like someone else also said, 2007 will be a year that will continue to reward. As much as I’ve said this already, the best decade for music so far in the 2000s.

Sunset Rubdown - Random Spirit Lover

I had this at number 12, but it's certainly better than that. I've been listening to it lately more than any other album, and I'm simply blown away by how good it is. If I had it to do all over to do again, I might put it at #6 (my top five of Icky Thump, The State Names, In Rainbows, New Moon, and Boxer is very solid).

Also, I deeply regret that I couldn't get Children Running Through (#11), Sky Blue Sky (#13), Living with the Living (#14), and Armchair Apocrypha (#15) into my top 10. In any other year, each of these would have had a good shot. They all deserve better, but in such a good musical year, I couldn't fit them all.

Oh yeah, I also forgot about Yeasayer’s All Hour Cymbals. It was completely and entirely overlooked by me and wrongfully so. This New York band combines their greatest strengths to make one eclectic, distinct sound. It’s a really great album.

I'm practically in tears having left The Field's mix of "Fall from a Height" by The Honeydrips off my best songs list. Not only is it, IMHO, the best thing he's ever done (original track or remix), but it easily would have cracked my top 5 songs of the year.

I don't know how I missed this......
