The Wu-tang album is being horribly slept on. I think its the case of the target audience being uncatered to, and the world at large writing it off as hip-hop in a rap year.

Truth is RZA and the rest of the clan are nearing two decades of polish, and this is an album that transcends genre without trying to be cross-over.

I love metacritic, but this site and the people who post here can be a bit myopic. Wu-Tang Clans 8 Diagrams is a fantastic album.

What you should do then, is post your list, with Wu Tang number one. That way one list will recognise the contribution you feel they've made to 2007.

I'm a huge hip hop fan, love the Wu Tang, but I only heard the album last week, and personally speaking I'm listening to so many other albums at the moment I haven't been able to listen to it anywhere near enough to force it into my top 20, or push it past my other favourite hip hop albums this year like Brother Reade, Brother Ali, Super Chron Flight Brothers, Blu & Exile, C Rayz Walz, Sean Price, Wisemen, Scholarman, etc, etc.

I like the sound of the new Wu Tang going by first impressions, but it's just released too late in the year. Besides which, the Metacritic forums, with a few notable exceptions, don't really love hip hop like you and I, so in any given year I think you'd struggle to find a hip hop album being recognised across the board.

This doesn’t need its own topic; you could have posted this in the “Best Records of 2007” thread or the unsung albums thread (probably the best one) or posted your year-end-list like Borachon said.
