A few I've been enjoying lately:

Arcade Fire- "Intervention"
Blonde Redhead- "Publisher"
Besnard Lakes- "You Lied to Me"
The Broken West- "Shiftee"
Do Make Say Think- "The Universe!"
Grinderman- "Electric Alice"
Kings of Leon- "My Party" (kick-ass groove/guilty pleasure?)
Malcolm Middleton- "A Brighter Beat"
Panda Bear- "Ponytail" (gorgeous harmonies--makes me think of The Association for some reason)
Patrick Wolf- "The Stars"
Radical Face- "Wrapped In Piano Strings"

So far these songs have become my favorites. Each has it's own reason for being part of this list.

All My Friends - LCD Soundsystem (Amazing)
No Cars Go - The Arcade Fire (Outstanding)
Antichrist Television Blues - The Arcade Fire (Captivating)
Parting of the Sensory - Modest Mouse (Epic)
+81 - Deerhoof (Fun)
Turn On Me - The Shins (Lovable)
Sleeping Lessons - The Shins (Giddy)
The Birth and Death of the Day - Explosions in the Sky (Emotional)
Waiting For The 7.18 - Bloc Party (Noisy)
Time Won't Let Me Go - The Bravery (Catchy)

The Icicle's Gedge's Song is the most sickening, candy coated, sleepy-time-xylophone-twinkling, female-on-female harmonizing twee song I've heard.... well, since boy least likely to (except The Icicle's have the sexy girl-on-girl action). I mean, c'mon, it's a song about a cat that wants to be let outside to play and be wild but it's an indoor cat so it's stuck on the inside looking out.

But, just like Boy Least Likely To, I just can't get enough of it.

Gross.

Oh. And, The Field's "From Here We Go To Sublime" is probably my favorite electronica track of the year so far(the only track rivaling it would be almost any of Sex Change's tracks).

Blonde Redhead's Dr Strangeluv and 23 are still my favorite songs of this year (so far) though (I change my opinion so often though, it's impossible to know for sure)

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - Who Do You Love?
Menomena - Rotten Hell
The Apples in Stereo - Energy

I actually enjoy the entire Menomena Cd but I think Rotten Hell is my current favorite. I'm thinking tomorrow's favorite will be Duel though.

of montreal -- the past is a grotesque animal
arcade fire -- my body is a cage
type o negative -- she burned me down
the good the bad & the queen -- kingdom of doom
rush -- far cry

I've been up to my neck in whiskey
I've been up to my neck in wine
I've been up to my neck in wishing
That this neck wasn't mine

BTW, I apologize for starting a redundant thread for best singles. I just completely spaced it (didn't see) the existing thread. If there's a way to delete it, please do.

No apology necessary, gh. I forgot to delete the other thread once you found your way over here, so thanks for the reminder.

McFearles and On Call by Kings Of Leon are amazing.

I'm Gina. :]

I'm pretty much a pretentious music snob.
If you can't deal with that oh well.
I love Radiohead, The New Pornographers and Kings of Leon with all my heart.
I have an amazing boyfriend who introduced me to this site.
I love all my friends.
And Love meeting new people.
So, message me. :]

Wasn't this song from the late 70's or early 80's?
