The Shins - Australia and Phantom Limb

Yes, I'm very behind in my 2007 listening already.

oh hell.
i'm hearing the new shining record "grindstone" and its amazing, but the lead-off track is superb, definately a standout for this month if not the rest of the year.
the title is, confusingly enough, the same as their last album, but it's brilliant nonetheless.

Shining - In the Land of Kitsch You Will Be a Monster

I haven't seen any love for Turn on Me off the new Shins album. It would be my favorite.

"mer du japon" on the new air album is providing some serious goodness at the moment. "the past is a grotesque animal" from of montreal and "sea legs" by the shins are tickling my musical lobes too.

Best:
The Shins - Australia
Gruff Rhys - Candylion (POP PERFECTION)
I'm tempted to go with something from Hissing Fauna but it's all so great, I can't pick! :/

Worst:
Ghost - Hemicyclic Anthelion. 28 minutes of wankery IMO.

"Bro's" by Panda Bear is, at least for me, the song to beat so far this year. What a beautiful song.

Bro's is my favorite of the year as well. Hopefully the rest of the album is as beautiful and tuneful as Bro's.

I should say that I have just learned about these songs the last few weeks. They could be, and in all likelyhood were, released in 2006. Still, if you haven't heard them, check them out.

No, it's already out in the US. Unless they got a record deal and are re-releasing it.

Muscle 'n Flo - Menomena

I'm rooting for this album to win the uphill battle of being a January release in the year end lists...The opener is jaw dropping, all fireworks on the guitar and that

It is. Believe me.

My list would include pretty much every song off of of Montreal's album.

Also:

Panda Bear - "Bros", "Comfy in Nautica"

LCD Soundsystem - "All My Friends" (I cannot believe nobody has mentioned this track yet...it's absolutely amazing), "Someone Great"

Arcade Fire - "Windowsill" (I'm burnt out on this album already, though)

And others I'm forgetting.
