I think that Person Pitch is a play on the words "Perfect Pitch".

Song Names: "All My Heroes Are Weirdos" - !!! (too true) "Break In Case of Anything" - !!! "Imitosis" - Andrew Bird And "Gang Bang Suicide"...those Broken Social Scene folks come up with some profane and disturbing song titles and lyrical bits for their happy bubbly sugar pop. Album Titles: I'm with Shadrach and nobody6 in thinking that some of the blockbuster albums from respectable artists this year had some excruciating titles, like Icky Thump (c'mon, it has the word icky in it), Our Love To Admire, Era Vulgaris, and Random Spirit Lover (wtf?!@#$#), among the ones already mentioned. I think Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is the worst offender though - sorry FKA. I've linked to this on a few posts before, but here Britt Daniel explains the title: quote: The title came from the piano part on “The Ghost of You Lingers.” I’d done a demo for the song, but didn’t have any words for it yet, so I thought “What am I going to call this song?” So I called it "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga.” After a while, it started to bring to mind to me the ideas of repetitiveness, and also a sort of Dada aspect. Plus, it’s just a bizarre, funny title.
Well... he was right about it being bizarre. Not to contradict the musician who performed the song , but for the sake of intonation I think the piano riff would be better replicated with a "Dun", "Na", or some other syncopated yet deep syllable than a guttural "Ga". The 'g' sound makes it too harsh, man! Oh well, the music is good and that's all that should matter even if it's annoying having to double check how many Ga's I've written down while raving about it.

Whatever it is meant to mean. All I hear is Person = Human, and Pitch = Syrupy substance. And when I think of syrup that comes out of people nothing good comes to mind.

Hey, I didn't say I liked it at all, but it is coming from "Panda Bear".

I think that it is too, mark. Bu tI also read somewhere that it's also a reference to the fact that Panda Bear is often compared to Brian Wilson. It's a play on "Pet Sounds" Pet = Person ; Sounds = Pitch

Ah come on, you guys take yourselves too seriously. Although I did like your brief study on which letters and syllables should be used to sing music, Pix. I agree with you that the ‘G’ is a bit too harsh. Also, I am a bit shocked that you automatically correlate the word “pitch” with syrup, Shadrach. When I hear the word pitch, I immediately thing of a music tone, sound. As in, “the pitch is flat on that note,” etc. And come on mark, so what if his stage name is Panda Bear? It’s not like he chose it because he thought he was so cute or anything. Lennox said that he is called Panda Bear because he drew a Panda when he was younger and someone started calling him Panda Bear so he stuck with it. In his real life, everyone does call him Noah (his first name) and rarely does anyone call him Panda Bear. I should know too, he personally told me!

I'll try to think of some song names later.
I've never heard of most of these, but I have to agree that they are awesome. Well. Not so sure about the second and last one, but the rest are sure sweet.

For me, it's gotta be Oblivion With Bells. The album wasn't very good as a whole, but the title rocks. And "Beautiful Burnout" is a great song title, as well. I know this is a digression, but can someone explain to me the appeal of Of Montreal? Like Sufjan Stevens, I just don't get it

Thanks, Shad. I like Alsatian Sunlight purely for the sound. I just like saying it, regardless of what the words mean. I'd definitely recommend the National Lights album, as it could end up being my album of the year. My only complaint is that at around 30 minutes, it's not long enough. It's got an early Iron & Wine vibe to it, only with better vocals and production and with darker lyrics.

Seconded. And I resent your rolling eyes emoticon for Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga.

I miss Godspeed you Black Emperor! simply for their song names. What was it... "She Dreamt she was a bulldozer, she dreamt she was alone in a field"... or something. Those were the days.
