I know, I'm starting this a bit early, but I'm creating this post for suggestions, predictions and disappointments throughout 2007, and keeping track of your year end lists when the time comes. What got bumped down? Who got totally taken off your list? Why is that album at number 1 now?

My list as of right now:

1. Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?, Of Montreal
2. Friend Opportunity, Deerhoof
3. Friend and Foe, Menomena

Once you reach your top 20 albums, keep it at 20, but switch, bump up, or knock down/out whoever. Of course I only have 3 right now, the year is still very young.

Edit:
No longer accepting albums that were released in Europe in 2006 but in 2007 in North America, because in the end, they wont be counted in the 2007 year end list.

Locksley's Don't Make Me Wait and The Red Button's She's About To Cross My Mind are the only contenders for my top 50 so far.

What I've been liking/ What I've Heard...
1. Of Montreal- Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? *****/*****
2. Julie Doiron- Woke Myself Up **** 1/2
3. Kristin Hersh- Learn to Sing Like A Star ****
4. Menomena- Friend and Foe ****
5. Deerhoof- Friend Opportunity (I have finally warmed up to it!) ****
6. The Shins- Wincing the Night Away ****
7. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah- ***
8. Bloc Party- A Weekend in the City * 1/2 (nearly unlistenable, it does nothing for me)
I have also listened to Sally Shapiro's "Disco Romance" and did not like it at all (reminded me of Kate Bush but with cheesy '80s electronica/ synth pop). I would give it **1/2.

I don't know how often I'll come back, but if this thread stays hot, and IT PROBABLY will, then I'll come back when I hear something worth posting.

I listened to the biggies, but right now, I'm championing the Broken West's I Can't Go On, I'll Go On. Great songwriting and performances. Sure...it has the "drawback" of being too good, but hey, they throw curveballs into every classically-structured song. Plus, it's FUN!!

The Shins new album is very good. I can't figure out why some people don't like it.

Only listened to Shins so far for '07 records, but can't say I see it ranking too high for me in the end.

A solid album, steadier maybe than Chutes, but like A Blessing and A Curse last year, lacks a truly great song. Confused by all the love for Australia, musically it's one of the flattest tracks. Must be the lyrics.

8. Bloc Party- A Weekend in the City * 1/2 (nearly unlistenable, it does nothing for me)

Which could be an improvement over Silent Alarm, easily '05s most overrated album.

Looks like my list, with the addition of Deerhoof's Friend Opportunity. Of the bunch, the only one I think will still be there at the end of the year is the Shins. I didn't like it much when I first heard it, but I'm really warming up to it.

Here's mine as of now. Most of these ratings WILL change as I listen to them over and over. It always happens. Some end up going down and others go up.

Biggest surprise of the year so far is Fall Out Boy's album. It's actually...*shifty eyes* kind of good. There's really been nothing BAD so far, in my opinion. I've been warming up to Bloc Party more and more (started off at like a 45/100, and now it's at 70.)

Grading System:
O (Outstanding) >> 95 - 100
E (Excellent) >> 88 - 94
S (Superb) >> 80 – 87
G (Good) >> 70 - 79
A (Average) >> 63 – 69
BA (Below Average) >> 56 – 62
B (Bad) >> 48 - 55
C (Crap) >> 40 – 47
H (Horrifyingly Bad) >> 0 - 39

Bloc Party (A Weekend in the City) 70/100 {G}
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (Some Loud Thunder) 61/100 {A}
Deerhoof (Friend Opportunity) 68/100 {A}
Explosions in the Sky (All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone) 65/100 {A}
The Good, The Bad, & The Queen (The Good, The Bad, & The Queen) 75/100 {G}
Fall Out Boy (Infinity on High) 67/100 {A}
LCD Soundsystem (The Sound of Silver) 87/100 {S}
Menomena (Friend and Foe) 74/100 {G}
Of Montreal (Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?) 90/100 {E}
The Shins (Wincing the Night Away) 85/100 {S}

01. Of Montreal {90}
02. LCD Soundsystem {87}
03. The Shins {85}
04. The Good, The Bad, & The Queen {75}
05. Menomena {74}
06. Bloc Party (70}
07. Deerhoof {68}
08. Fall Out Boy {67}
09. Explosions in the Sky {65}
10. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah {61}

Coming Soon:
The Apples in Stereo - New Magnetic Wonder
The Arcade Fire - The Neon Bible

Since they're not revealing their plans of what they plan to do with the 4 albums Molina recorded last year, I can't know for sure, but based on the stuff I've heard I expect them to release a box set of all 4 albums sometime in the middle of the year. Understand, no one has actually said this, but from the way Molina and others have talked, I think it seems likely that this is what they have planned.

My list right now would consist of Of Montreal, Menomena, Deerhoof, Animal Collective and Busdriver. I've also been listening to The Goslings' "Grandeur of Hair", a late December 2006 release, constantly. It is mindblowing.

The Broken West is certainly the best I've heard (on vinyl), but I haven't heard Andy Bird's (except for twice in concert Cool).
