I'm just wondering what song and album names stuck out at people this year.

For me, right away, one of the best song names of the year is "The Past is a Grotesque Animal" by Of Montreal.

Feist should get an honorable mention though for "1234" for epic simplicity.

Album titles of the stuff that I've gotten this year are pretty unimpressive to me though. Although I think Justice wins it for me with "†".

I'd have to go with "That Summer, At Home I Had Become The Invisible Boy" as my favourite song title of the year.

For some reason, as far as album titles go, I really like "Songs From The Deep Forest". I'm not sure why. I think perhaps it's because it conjures up the idea of woodland animals clubbing together and conjuring some beautiful, magical music. Right?

How about Wheat's album Everyday I Said a Prayer for Kathy and Made a One Inch Square?

I like the song title- "Pussy Head Man from Outer Space" and album title- "Nam Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo" (love the album cover art as well). Both from Acid Mothers Temple though the song is on a different album (the band has released 5 or 6 albums this year).

I think overall, the quality of the album titles this year has been horrible in comparison to the quality of the music.

Seriously some of the worst album titles ever: Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, In Rainbows, Strawberry Jam, Sound of Silver, Person Pitch...

Maybe "worst" isn't the right term. I think what I'm trying to express is the word "embarrassing". They are great bands and great albums, but I feel silly talking about their album names. They border on ridiculous. There are a lot of really poor bands with worse album names. What makes these seem bad is that the albums they are attached to are so good.

And I'm not shocked to find that I could easily be in the minority on this. The names made it through a series of corporate and advertising filters (okay, maybe not In Rainbows). So obviously someone likes them.

I like the album titles Night of the Furies (The Rosebuds), All Hour Cymbals (Yeasayer), and You, You're A History In Rust (Do Make Say Think).

Most of my favorite song titles are on the Twilight Sad album.

Been reading these forums for a couple years now and you guys have steered me towards some truly great bands and albums, so thank you for that. Big Grin

Decided to make this my first post because of the obviousness (to me, anyway) of the best track name of the year:
I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You by Black Kids.
As for best album name, it's gotta be Fort Nightly (White Rabbits), just 'cause I'm the kind of guy that throws around the word "fortnight" in casual conversations.

As far as songs go, I'd go with "Our Life Is Not a Movie or Maybe" by Okkervil River.

I can't think of any album titles I really liked, but a couple I really hated were:

Boxer- It's not a bad title it just doesn't suit the music.
Person Pitch- What does that even mean?
