No record stores in your area allow you to listen to songs before you buy them? Not even new releases?

I've posted this somewhere before, but the town I currently live in is seriously record store deficient, meaning aside from big chains, there are none. The last independently owned record store here went out of business about 4 years ago. I'm constantly jealous of people who live in cities with cool record stores.

Eric, what the hell are you talking about???

I definitely have a few things I haven't paid for. I'm not proud of it, I don't advocate it. We're talking about, maybe, 2% of my library. Maybe less.

I ween it down all the time, and am working towards it being 0%. Five years ago, I probably had around 15% burned material. It's a worlk in progress.

BTW, I saw your "asshole" comment before you edited it. And it was funny. So why delete it? Being a moderator doesn't mean you can't have sharp teeth.

I meant to edit my comment but quoted it instead. I was going to repost it, but then I respond to Jack's question instead. Don't worry, I wasn't censoring myself for your sake...lmao.

I think it's admirable that you're working toward paying for 100% of your music, as am I. I was just trying to make the point that we shouldn't be so quick to throw stones when we still occasionally frequent glass houses ourselves. Even if it's only 2% of the time!

By the way, for those who missed it, my "asshole" comment to Il Mago was something like:

"We still love you around here even if you are an asshole sometimes. Look how many people want hudson to stay."

Yeah, you and I are cool but I wouldn’t go around trying to be like him—if I were you. I’m just saying… Cool

Whoa there! Let's not get carried away.

This thread should be renamed "Hey everybody! We're in here".

Maybe even "Whodson?" because we're not really talking about "he who shall not be named".

I still find it hard to believe. Hell even Best-Marts have listening stations.

My store will open any album (even if it's their only copy) for me to listen to it. I love that place. They also do the "club card" where you build up points to get money off future purchases.

See, you live in Michigan, you've got the climate down pat. You should just move to Canada. Things are better here.

I'm eagerly anticipating next week's vote:

Should Il Mago adopt EricG75?

Yes - Canadians are so gullible.

No - It's a hygiene thing.

So, righto. I voted No.

Why? First of all, hudson is our funniest member. It's like watching someone step on a rake over, and over, and over again. And then people mock him for stepping on the rake. Best. Thing. Ever.

Second of all, hudson's keyboard masturbations really shouldn't bother anyone that much. If we have germs dumb enough to dismiss the whole site because of one (mis)user and the antics surrounding him, then our lurkers should get thicker skin. Despite all his threats and delusions and kooky rantings, he's all bark and no bite and there's nothing his text flatulence can accomplish or affect.

Third, you guys do realize we'd have a suicide on our hands if hudson could not come here and troll, right? Nobody wants to take away something that is clearly such a massive part of his life. I mean honestly, I can hear him right now.

"MOOOOOOOOM! I'm infamous on the internet, w00t! Bring more doughnuts, quick!"

Big Grin This is starting to remind me of The Mickey Mouse Club's "Anything Can Happen Day".
