Beanie Sigel is a talented rapper. His first two albums were victims of poor production, but his most recent, The B. Coming, is supposedly awesome (due to lack of funding, i've not been able to get my hands on it.)
The big topic, however, is the fact that he's an idiot. Gangsta Rap (i hate that term) is apparantly a way out of the ghetto, and so when a semi-successful Gangsta rapper is arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and attempted murder, you have to call him an idiot for turning down that rare opportunity that is the american dream.
What do other people think about him? Should i even be supporting this evil bastard? Why do i feel strangely sorry for him? I have questions. Lots of questions.
I dont think you should feel sorry for him...but thats up to you.
I dont like beanie seagal i bought his first album.Didnt like it...his voice is obnoxious to me.Hw is so middle of the road.Too good to be terrible...but not great enough to be anything more than a filler mc.
I personally would not consider backing him.Essentially buying his cd would be supporting his idiotic acts.

I'm done with mainstream rap, even if it's unknown "indie" mainstream rap like MIA or any of that grime pikey shit. The indie webzines have pushed this shit enough already. I've deleted too many folders to keep putting stock in whatever they say about whatever comes out on Rocafella. I know how lenient they are about such albums, and an 8.5 doesn't mean anything if it's because they're "enlightening" us with this music that we would never listen to, even though we're hearing it whenever we hang around our friends with shitty taste.
I've learned enough about my own tastes to now know that I don't like rap except as a semi-novelty or -curiosity within a rockist music collection. Thank you pitchfork/stylus/tmt/cmg/etc for helping me realize this.

Beanie Sigel isn't brilliant, but he's pretty solid. I agree with imprezu21 about him being a filler mc. he's never done anything that has made him stand out from the crowd, but if you compare him with someone like Young Chris, he's worthy of your attention merely due to the fact that he's versatile and can fully address a topic ('what's your life like'). I first heard him on 'Adrenaline!' by The Roots. The man can freestyle. In his menace, he has energy that is missing from so many rappers nowadays. Commercial hip-hop is a breath of fresh air, but with albums like 'hope' by Non Prophets (the ultimate parody of commercial music), where you get the best of both worlds, there's no need for commercial rap anymore.
I think beanie seagal is a poor mans freddie foxx.If u want energy and intensity that is your guy.I cant remember the name off the top of my head...but he has an album produced by premo. It is killer.

you guys are over-rating sigel. there are thousands of guys who can freestyle on his level, and can put out a way more satisfying album. if you want a brilliant MC, check the following:
- Madvillain - Heiruspecs - Beans (formerly of Anti-Pop Consortium) - Sage Francis
