In his own recent history The Game has been a publicity stunt. He could possibly be as irritating as his former boss Fif for the simple fact that he opens his mouth on some stupid shit and doesn't have the muscle to flex the metal like he goes on about in his lyrics just the same. With that said, I have yet to see this man put out a garbage album or even remotely close to it. I'm really pleasantly surprised with LAX and even with the common name dropping in his rhyme scheme Game's style and wordplay is nasty. Production isn't quite as glossy as his last two efforts but this is most certainly his grittiest, most westcoast sounding record to date. If you're a fan of the old wild west then cop this shit and enjoy the bounce. Cali, baby.

How does it compare to Doctor's Advocate? I really liked that one but have been apprehensive about downloading this.

In my opinion it's not quite as good as Doctor's Advocate. I personally think his sophomore record is his best album to date but a lot would argue that his G-Unit debut is a step above. I say LAX is his least powerful project but it's certainly a lot more "him" than The Documentary (where I think his creative control was limited.) And saying that it's his worst studio album is hardly a knock at all. It still goes hard, IMO.

EDIT: St. Mike, I'm gonna put you and all of Metacritic on something you're apparently not aware of. Scope this website:

www.audioditions.com

This is DJ MJC's website and he gets albums as soon as they leak and make them available for you to stream. I've been on this little gem for a couple years now, listening to Nas' Hip Hop Is Dead, The Game's Doctor's Advocate, etc. weeks before they hit retails. LAX is available as one of the streams right now. He updates every so often and albums get swept under the rug soon after they're released so don't lose your chance. He doesn't promote piracy and encourages legitimate buys. It's legal.

I don't know why I didn't tell you guys about this site sooner. My fault...
