What are the classics-to-be from 2000 up til now? I definitely have some favorites but they're mostly from the most acclaimed rappers, so I'm sure I'm missing tons of good ones! Throw 'em at me.

These are mostly obvious (but then, that's why I'm making this list - expand my horizons, please!):

Aesop Rock: Daylight
Cannibal Ox: basically anything off "The Cold Vein."
Clipse: Grindin', When the Last Time, Ride Around Shinin', Trill, okay...anything of "Hell Hath No Fury" too.
Dizzee Rascal: I Luv U, Fix Up Look Sharp
Edan: Fumbling Over Words that Rhyme
Eminem: Lose Yourself, Stan, The Real Slim Shady
Ghostface: Nutmeg, Shakey Dog
Jay-Z: Ignorant Shit, 99 Problems, Izzo, Big Pimpin', Dirt Off Your Shoulder...
Kayne West: Robocop, All Falls Down, Through the Wire, Flashing Lights, Gold Digger, Diamonds from Sierra Leone, Big Brother...(interestingly, I don't consider him one of my favorite artists, but if I had to make a list of best decade songs, he'd have more than any other artist rap or not).
Missy Elliott: Get Ur Freak On, Pass the Dutch, Work It
M.I.A.: Paper Planes
Lil Wayne: Mr. Carter, Ms. Officer, Upgrade U
Outkast: Hey Ya, B.O.B., Ms. Jackson
R. Kelly: Ignition (Remix)...if this qualifies as rap.
T.I.: What You Know, Live Your Life (guilty pleasure), No Matter What
Talib Kweli: Get By, or almost anything off "Quality."
50 Cent: In Da Club

What am I missing? Anything from El-P, Common, Subtle, or other rappers I don't know of?

Yeah, I just wanted to post this in general forums to elicit more discussion since everyone sees that sub-forum and this one isn't as popular (so I made the thread again, but then it got moved here). I mean yes, your average Metacritic reader has a indie bent, but I think many of us still listen to a fair amount of hip-hop.

El-P "Deep Space 9mm" and "Stepfather Factory", among others...

Madvillain "All Caps," "Raid" "Meat Grinder"

Aesop Rock "None Shall Pass"

and you missed one of Jay-Z's best "Heart of the City (Ain't No Love)"

I'm very confused. There has been excellent rap songs this decade and none of them are mentioned. Perhaps the contribution to this thread are still in their pre-teens. God , what a heap of crap in these lists. Atleast Lawrence Of Suburbia has looked in other places; atleast some of his suggestions are not household names. God, you are missing out such great artists here. Check out the free underground rap Mp3s from downloadmusic.com, around 2005-7

If you're going to spam this thread, you should at least try politeness.

Also, there's a pretty broad spread of hip-hop mentioned in this thread. Feel free to contribute ::Actual:: song recommendations rather than telling everyone to download stuff off yr website.
