quote: Originally posted by Kool Mike: Ludacris has the same problem that Fiddy does, his rhyme scheme is copped from Dr. Seuss. The only difference is he speed raps it. Speed rapping is the lowest form of hip hop anyway, but come on. Look, if you had put Lil' Wayne in there instead, I'd have no problems, he is a respectable lyricist, his flow is everchanging and his puns are brilliant(not to mention he pretty much kills any guest spot he gets).
If you consider "Let me give you some swimming lessons on the penis" brilliant, than that's your issue.
Cam'ron doesn't even rap, he talks and doesn't really have anything intelligent to say.
Here's some MC's that could be on my list, but I'm not really willing to widdle the names down right now:
Kool Keith KRS-One Nas Mos Def Tupac Aesop El-Producto Rakim Del Ghostface Vast Aire Slug MF Doom Mos Def Gza Biggy Common Chuck D. Jay-Z Sage Slick Rick Lil' Wayne
Lyrically, comparing Luda and 50 is quite silly. Have you heard "Hip-Hop Quotables" from Chicken and Beer? Luda is the truth on hits and his albums are great. I like Wayne and his puns, but his swag gets the best of him sometimes and results in silly rhymes that he think are clever. "You niggas pussy like dryed sperm" "I'm so hot I freeze" Etcetera. I don't argue about Cam anymore because it's clear that it's popular to dislike, whether you really feel that way or not. IMO it's not always what you say, it's how you say it and Cam's nonsensical illiterations and assonance are constantly compelling.

I could only whittle it down to five, so here they are in no particular order:
MF Doom Kanye West Jay-Z GZA Talib Kweli
I know I'm probably going to be ripped apart for including Kanye, but I'm a huge fan. I personally think College Dropout is genius, and after going to one of the Glow In The Dark tour concerts, I don't think anyone can dispute that he put together one of the best hip-hop tours ever.

I'd also like to add Lupe to my list. Although he hasn't really established himself yet, dude can tear it down on the mic. Put You On Game is incredible, and the Real is disgustingly good too.
