Fiddy is a convicted drug dealer. His bros growing up were gang members and thugs. These guys are now his entourage. That's a fact. I don't know how much more street cred a guy can get.
Of course 50 lives in a mansion, where else is a multi milloinaire gonna live?
And the only reason I compared Fiddy to Pac was because they both painted pictures of hood life with their raps.
Okay, here is the thing; why does somebodies 'street cred' have to do with anything. I get that if you're rapping about shooting bitches and fucking niggas (or vice versa) and you don't, it isn't honest, but why does that matter? Some of my favorite lyricists rhyme about some imaginary shit, what's it matter that Kool Keith has never pissed on a dude? It's still hilarious. I may have said this before (not going to bother to look) but I've known plenty of people throughout the years that have 'street cred' and try to rap, but just end up with retarded rhymes. Here's the thing, you gotta be smart to be a legit rapper, I mean sure you can rhyme 'thugs' with 'dubs' but, why? Rapping is the art of colorfully using language as an art form, not playing in a dick measure contest to see who's hardest (HA!). I doubt Fiddy is at all what he claims to be, but that doesn't concern me as much as his inability to say any eloquent, and thats his fucking job.

Name the niggas he grew up with that were thugs. Banks was a hood nigga but he was no thug. Yayo didn't get convicted till he got out the hood and hopped on Fif's dick. Fif might have been in cahoots with some true G's back in the good ol' days but those days are over. He's nothing but an industry thug. Like I said before, what kind of gangsta files a restraining order against his enemies?
I can't even begin to describe your ignorance, because not only do you not know anything but you actually make things up.

The only reason I presented the facts about fif's street cred is because others called it into question. So I proved them wrong. Because the face is, 50 grew up as a drug dealing gangsta.
I enjoy his album. And I don't need anyone else to agree with me in order to enjoy it. That's the great thing about music. But I stand by my comment that if "Get rich..." would've been released back in the early 90s, it would've been hailed as a classic. The only reason people write the album off, is because gangsta rap was done so well in the 90s. So now, fif comes out with a full on gangsta album and people call him cliched, just because he's rappin' about the gangsta life. But that's what he knows. He's just keepin' it real.

You just named em' for me. Those guys are straight up from the street, period. He's an industry rapper because he owns the industry, just like Jay-Z and eminem. Doesn't take away from his cred.
I think getting shot 9 times and watching Pac and Biggie go down in a hail of bullets is enough reason to be extra cautious. I'd be cautious too. When you're involved in a genre that mixes with hardened gang members, you have to be careful.
Just look at what happens to the pro atheletes who come from the hood. Those guys get shot left and right. There's nothing wrong with taking precautions to protect your life.
And Frame, quit questioning my knowledge of rappers. I know my shit. Eventhough I grew up in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, skiing, hiking and mountain biking for recreation, I'm still a hard, gangsta motherfucka. I'll straight up bust a cap in a motherfucka's ass. WORD!

Back up there for a sec... this is the same dude who has a problem with white wanna be down guys?
Here's the thing you don't understand: originating from the ghetto doesn't make you a "thug" or automatically initiates you in a "gang", and you even addressing it in that sense I take as a personal insult. If anything, Fif separated himself from the most dangerous niggas he was associated with, that being the likes of Domination and Bang Em Smurf. Neither Banks or Yayo were thugs growing up. And if Fif was really down with the G code then he wouldn't have coordinated with the police. If the order of protection was 'an okay thing to do' according to you then why the hell did he deny its existance? He ended up looking like a fool when the soft copy of the paperwork was spread in the media. Also, he never goes hard when confronting niggas. Black Child addressed the beef with Ja Rule right to Fif's face and Fif brushed it off talking about there's no problem. Then he goes back in the booth recording diss tracks. That's a real nigga? Dude is a fake ass liar.
Of course there's nothing wrong with taking precautions to protect your neck but you can't record music talking about staying strapped and blazing guns if you ain't really about that. Fif is not.
And as for you being a thugged out dude from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, I get this vibe that that statement was a joke. But just in case it wasn't I'll tell you why you're lying: I grew up in Magazine St. in Vallejo, California. That's the hood. I've seen things you've seen dramatized in movies. But let me tell you about myself... I'm not a thug, I'm not a gangsta, I'm a not a hustler... I'm me. I graduated high school with honors and have been attending Sacramento State college since 2006. I was still born to the G code so I have a hood mentality, I'm no snitch, and I'd snatch the life out of niggas that would dare harm my family and friends, but I still consider myself a highly educated, good-natured human being. You ain't hood, homie, because I've witnessed pretenders like you in real life. Go watch Malibu's Most Wanted and get to know the real you.

That movie is the bomb yo! And don't forget the conclusion of the movie. After trying to scare B-Rad out of his 'blackness' everyone eventually realized and accepted that B-Rad was who he was, he was being true to himself, and it was everyone else that didn't know themselves.

You see, there's the brutal irony that kills 50 Cent. All he raps about is how sh!t the hood is, while also pimping all the idiotic activities that got him arrested (drugs, pimping, shootings). And yet, he's been living in a mansion in a white neighborhood since the year 2000. 50 turned his back on his people but still makes money off their suffering. If Fiddy actually had any balls, he'd move back to his hood and try to make it better, not just move his former gang out to Honkeytown and bilk it from there. He may have had some a decade ago, but he has no street cred now. I hate to break it to you, but there are millions of black people in jail right now, and that doesn't make any of them good artists.

If you don't like it or can't appreciate it for the simple, straightforward, no tricks up it's sleeve gem that it is, that's you're deal. It's one of the most enjoyable rap albums I've ever heard. The beats are sweet, the raps are catchy and clean and it's real. Like I said, Fiddy is rappin' about what he knows.
Fiddy is every bit of the thug that Pac was, so no one should be questioning his street cred. And if Fiddy would've released "Get rich..." back when Pac released 'Thug life" it would've been hailed as a classic.
I'll grant you, fiddy doesn't have the rapping skills that Pac did, but he spits clean and hard and "get rich..." paints just a clear a picture of the hood. You can call fiddy cliched, but just because NWA and Pac and them used to rap about the hood and thug life 10+ years ago, doesn't mean that fiddy is a fake when he raps about the hood. He grew up in the hood, it's what he knows.
here's the deal. I'm going to try and shut up this argument. First, Fiddy can probably rap hard, but he hasn't done it yet, and doesn't look like he ever will. NWA and Pac didn't get respect because they rapped about the hood, its because they rapped WELL about the hood. "Get Rich...." would never have been hailed a classic, never. He has no flow, he raps slow and barely coherently. "Get Rich..." paints a picture of what the media says is the hood. I dont know if you've ever been in one, but I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and thats about as ghetto as you can get, and I still haven't seen anything that Fiddy rapped about that was in my hood. Maybe he needs a new persona, maybe he shouldn't be a gangsta, because he's not. I fact-checked and he got shot because he was ratting out a minor drug organization. I have no problem with whistle-blowing or snitching, but Fiddy raps like he seems to have a problem with it, so WTF.
So to break it down, 1) Has no flow 2) Has no energy 3) Is against snitches, but he is one himself 4) He's fake 5) ODB is da shit. PEACE OUT!

Ludacris has the same problem that Fiddy does, his rhyme scheme is copped from Dr. Seuss. The only difference is he speed raps it. Speed rapping is the lowest form of hip hop anyway, but come on. Look, if you had put Lil' Wayne in there instead, I'd have no problems, he is a respectable lyricist, his flow is everchanging and his puns are brilliant(not to mention he pretty much kills any guest spot he gets).
If you consider "Let me give you some swimming lessons on the penis" brilliant, than that's your issue.
Cam'ron doesn't even rap, he talks and doesn't really have anything intelligent to say.
Here's some MC's that could be on my list, but I'm not really willing to widdle the names down right now:
Kool Keith KRS-One Nas Mos Def Tupac Aesop El-Producto Rakim Del Ghostface Vast Aire Slug MF Doom Mos Def Gza Biggy Common Chuck D. Jay-Z Sage Slick Rick Lil' Wayne
