He's Canadian. They think Dan Aykroyd is funny.

Big Grin LOL!! We certainly do not find Dan Aykroyd funny. He's just all we've got. No other comedians have ever come from Canada.

Well, let me be the first to offer you a suggestion:

If you wisely use the ignore list feature, you can weed through the BS and get some decent recommendations.

I won't name names, but I have it set to ignore my least favorite poster. It's as if he never posts. Big Grin

Wikipedia (Oh Wikipedia, how did I live without you?) turned up the fact that both Tommy Chong and the Daily Show's Samantha Bee are Canadian. Maybe Canadians can be funny.

I’ll be Ben Gazzara, you’ll be Gena Rowlands.

I'm officially demoting you to Lieutenant Colonel Nougat.

My God, you've found two more. You are resourceful (maybe that's why you got the moderator gig). I'm gonna call the news about the development...right after this hockey game...

Oh...and The Streets are excellent.

uh... Kids in the Hall(the Canadian comedy troupe, not Kidz in the Hall the rap group. You tell me which is more appropriate for this thread)

Big Grin

I think you know I was joking, but with this internet thingy, it's hard to tell.

All comedians come from Canada. All Canadian kids eat pancakes with Maple Syrup. Canadian Maple Syrup gives you a serious sugar high. High children are funny, then they grow up to become funny adults...or high adults.

...circle of life

I'll try to bring the thread together by offering up a Canadian hip-hop artist to check out. Listen to Breaking Kayfabe by Cadence Weapon.

It's been emotional.

Yep, I knew you were joking. I only wanted to throw out the comedy troupe because of their likeness(in name only) to the hip hop group.

It's only moderately awkward to explain myself. Cool

Great choice. This works two ways. His music's good and or all the hipsters out there, they should know he was a former Pitchfork reviewer.
Cool

Somebody I forgot to mention and haven't seen yet!: Buck 65. He's damned nerdy and White, which is kind of de facto indie. I've heard only small bits but they were neat, he injects a weird kinda alt-country vibe.

Oh, is it me? If you never answer then I guess I know the answer, huh?

I'll second a few recommendations:

The Streets (one of my favorite acts of 00's)
MF Doom
Aesop Rock

I'm not a huge Rap fan, but these acts all have good stuff. I'm sure many of the other stuff people have listed is great too. These guys around here really know their stuff, I promise ya.

Buck 65 lives 5 minutes from me.

I think that makes him my best friend.

I'm not a huge rap fan either, but I did love Edan's 2005 album, Beauty and the Beat.
