Heard aonther track on Dave Chappelle, sounded excellent. Release date for July.

Hip-Hop in 08 is really relying on Outkast and The Roots.

anyone know anything about Gza's D.A.R.T.S, if it's a real album or what?

I didn't bother downloading it, looked like mostly old and live stuff.

yep yep. after doing a bit more research i saw that it's not an official release. i did see that he's got a new one called Pro Tools but it looks more like a wu-comp than a solo album...sorta

New Wu? I think they've got a new track or two but I haven't heard about any releases Frowner

The new Wayne is pretty ridiculous. I don't like most of what he's put out since Carter II but he's killing it on the album. How rare is a mainstream (or underground) hip-hop album with only a couple iffy tracks?

45. Food For Animals - Belly (HOSS) = Glitch for days
40. Clutchy Hopkins - Walking Backwards (Ubiquity) = very interesting
32. Mochipet - Microphonepet (Daly City) = essential
30. The Herbaliser - Same As It Never Was (!K7) = funky
26. B. Dolan - Live Evel EP (Strange Famous) = his album is rad too, splitting the difference between Sage Francis and Buck 65
25. Prolyphic & Reanimator - The Ugly Truth (Strange Famous) = Reanimator's beats are breathtaking
24. Cadence Weapon - Afterparty Babies (Anti-/Big Dada) = Far out
23. Tim Fite - Fair Ain't Fair (Anti-) = unapologetically white
18. James Pants - Welcome (Stone's Throw) = more '80s funk than hip-hop, but close

Lyrics Born - Everywhere At Once
J-Live has a new album out
Blue Sky Black Death - Late Night Cinema = instrumental soul hip-hop that really kicks their sound up a notch
Mad EP - Bass.Hed = glitch hardcore from Ad Noiseam
Odd Nosdam - Pretty Swell Explode = more of a compilation than an album, but I love this guy
Tipper - Wobble Factor = crazy, crazy warping basslines, but not really hip-hop per say
Time Machine - Life Is Expensive = a prime example of conscious West coast indie hip-hop
Kail - True Hollywood Squares = party rhymes formed into a concept album

All in all, I'd say it's been a pretty good year for hip-hop.

I'll have to check out some of that stuff Filmore thanks.

For the time being, here's Nas' new single...

Hero - Nas (Prod. Polow Da Don)

Undeniably dope.

Is it strange that I just did a search to see if there were anymore new tracks out from Nas? Thanks!

I hate the beat so much (and I really hate the backing vocals), but his flow and the message are undeniably fire.

I don't see the point of the backgorund female vocals, but I like that beat. Completely different from what Nas usually rhymes over, which is good since his choice in beats is usually terrible.

Saying that, you know his new album is going to be a dispointment. He has been disapointing conststently since IWW.

You should just check out SOHH forums for new Nas stuff, its also the most hilarious/ homophobic/racist/xenophobic forum on the internet.

I'm a big fan of the simplicity of the classic Nas beats... I think that's one of the reasons why I pretty much like his albums in order of release date (and there's no doubt that Illmatic is his defining release). And I really didn't like Hip Hop Is Dead

But, that being said, this track and "Be A Nigger Too" sound pretty damn good.

I'm still in love with B Dolan's The Failure, but if you don't dig Sage Francis and/or Buck 65, you prolly won't like him.
If you're more of a mainstream fan, Kail's debut will be right up your alley with some really tasty beats (Mega Man and the theme brom Bullitt?!) and more typical hip-hop lyrical themes.
Clutchy Hopkins is wicked for eclectic live played hip-hop.
Blue Sky Black Death is the best soul flavored instrumental hip-hop record of the year, while the new Herbaliser delivers a better funk informed hip-hop record than Amy Winehouse ever thought was possible.
Mochipet's new one is great if you like Prefuse 73/edIT style glitch-hop, but with more MC presense.

Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip's Angles is officially the best thing I've heard this year. Incredible, intelligent lyrics, inventive beats, amusing nods to Dizzee Rascal, and the late, great, Tommy Cooper, Radiohead sampled, and the voice of God. What more do you want?

It's not for everyone... if you can't listen to Mike Skinner, you probably won't like this, but unlike The Streets, this is definitely hip hop.

Oh, and Thou Shalt Always Kill is the best thing I've heard in ages.

I found Angles mainly unremarkable Hip-hop for depressed students. I don't really see the Mike Skinner comparison either, very different artists.

Each to his own I guess.

I guess that solves my curiosity. I think The Streets blow goats.
However, I was under the impression this was definitely an electro album.
