I know it's a little on the unusual side, but the new Dalek album is great.

Hell Razah - Renaissance Child Wisemen - Wisemen Approaching
Just two real dope albums....the Hell Razah album is grimey and hit pretty hard, while the Wisemen album is some more laid back smooth Wu Tang shit (produced by Bronze Nazareth)....
Wu on top again this year, so far (if you include the solid Afro Samurai soundtrack as well)....the two albums mentioned are probably better than anything released last year, honestly.
Word... I thought the Sean Price album wasn't bad at all, in fact, it's pretty much the only new stuff I've been listening to the past month or so. GZA, I'll make sure I'll see your Wisemen mention... sorry I got nothin to raise back to you By the way, Im lovin The Great Migration from last year...really do. Very laid back, minimal and raw. Trade mark wu sound. You know if he's got anything new comin out this year?

I don't think Bronze has anything new coming this year....
But the Wisemen joint is his project...it's almost like The Great Migration except it features the rest of his crew: Kevlaar 7, Phillie, and Salute - I think they were on the track "Detroit" on The Great Migration. Bronze produces a majority of the tracks, Kevlaar produces the other few....and he rhymes on almost every track too.
Honestly...if you liked the Bronze album, you're gonna like this too.

Really enjoying Thes One's new album. Also liking Wisemen, and Juggaknots album is quality. Got hold of the new Sean Price after GZA mentioned it. Only listened to it once, but it sounds pretty good. Been a fairly quiet start to the year as far as hip hop is concerned though. Anyone heard the new X-Clan? Seen a couple of decent reviews.

Has anyone heard the new J Dilla 2-disc album, Ruff Draft, which according to the "Upcoming Releases Calendar" on metacritic says is being released tomorrow? I knew there was going to be a new album coming out soon but I didn't expect it this soon.

You guys need to hear EL-P's I'll Sleep When You're Dead. It is the best hip-hop album of the year, easy. It is very solid and there are plenty of great collaborations. There are three tracks streaming here at his myspace.

Ruff Draft is re-issue btw. Klashnekoff's album is the best I've heard, but I haven't listened to much.

Klashnekoff's album - I've heard half a dozen tracks so far, and it sounds really good. Looking forward to listening to it all. DJ Vadim's new one is half-decent too. I've only given it a quick listen though. Still loving Wisemen and Thes One. Anyone heard the new Hell Razah?

That El-P album is trash....loud, cluttered, obnoxious (not hip-hop) beats drown out the crummy lyrics from El-P. It's unlistenable as a hip-hop album to me.
Definitely get the Hell Razah if you don't have it. Solid hip-hop at its finest.
Also, everyone should check out Devin The Dude's new album "Waitin' To Inhale"....it's genius. Hilarious lyrics, bangin' beats...a lot of originality on the album. Devin is one of the most consistent artists out today. A must-buy, IMO.

I really like I'll Sleep When Your Dead. It's pretty abrasive at first but after I sat with it for a while it started to open up a bit. I think the lyrics are fine. There isn't a whole lot of typical hip hop stuff which is a good thing. I can see your point. El-P isn't really a hip hop artist in any sort recongizable way. He doesn't really rap on beat to often (especially live), his beats are almost industrial sounding and they tend to be overstuffed with bells and whistles. I'll have to check out the Hell Razeh album. I think the new Prodigy looks promising but Mobb Deep has been absolutely awful for a long time.

The last record worth listening to was Hell On Earth. It's all been downhill since that, IMHO.
