I think Chingy's voice is quite shrill and annoying. Nelly's flow is always the same; that's also irritating. At least they rap more about drugs, money, and bitches then guns and violence though, so there's a plus.

Most rap music has been severely annoying to me since the mid 90s. Whatever happened to innovation, creativity and unlikely samples? Well....I guess this is what happens when commercialism becomes more important than artistry!

Where are u looking and what are u listening too.Thereis a ton of very important hip-hop coming out...if u can find it.It will not be on the radio...or on mtv.You might have to search it out.
But...there is alot of artists making really really good progressive and inventive hip-hop.
I am sure you are speaking of gangsta rap and all that junk that is played on the boob tube and on your "too hot" urban radio stations.

Well I supposed I just moved on to other things. I was a huge rap fan in the early 90s and loved all the stuff released by artists like Leaders of The New School, Fu Schnickens, Black Sheep, EPMD, Redman (first album only), Digital Underground and even some of the early G-Funk stuff too.
I'll admit there are some fairly good artists out there today though. I kinda like the stuff Common does. However I don't really follow the scene anymore. I take it most of the good stuff today is released on indie labels never seeing the light of day over here (Denmark).
Oh and about radio....I stopped listening when they stopped letting the DJ's choose their own song in favour of "playlist generators" and since my country is really too small for specialist stations, I have no intentions of starting again.

sorry man...i did not realize u were over there.I am sure it is hard to find some of the indie artists that i would be speaking of.I also agree with you on the radio thing...there is only one radio station that i listen too and it is a college radio show...
check out this on sunday nights there is a show called street sounds.Itis pretty good.And you can go in and stream old shows or download them.
I am sure there is a bunchmore good shows in the world.But thisone is based in seattle...so i listen to it.
So if u want check it out...and let me know what ya think?

Yup...my "Land Of Funk" location is a total joke!! You won't find a more funk-less country than mine LOL. Very hard to be a black music fan over here, especially when it comes to quality indie releases. Anyway, thanks for that link Imprezu....I'm sure this is gonna be interesting!

i don't really like aesop rock all that much. i love him as a guest rapper, one verse at a time, but over the course of an album he really wears on me. but he's way better than all the same old mtv rappers.

At least Eminem has a good song come out once in a while...and Outkast is pretty innovative for such a mainstream group...and anyone who can make "OK!" cool to say, like Lil' Jon (with the help of Dave Chapelle of course) did cant be THAT bad...
