Well, Kany West is overrated that's for sure. Yeah he tries to makes original rap, but it's not because he tries something new that it's good. I don't think that "stronger" is a better song that "straight to tha bank". I didn't really liked "gold digger". I think that Kanye's beats lacks of punch. And i don't like how 50 cent sings. he's like "heeeeeemmmmmmoney heeeeeeeee". I say buy cLOUDDEAD records

From a critical point of view, Graduation seems to be getting the better reviews, including a 8.9 from Pitchfork and 4 stars at AMG. 50's newest seems to be gettting a pretty cool reponse however.

I think Graduation is really great. Consistent, great singles, perfect production. I think he should have released "Good Life" as the summer single, though. I think that song had the potential to be huge and could have been the song of the summer. I love the ambition, ego and determination that Kanye West displays in everything he does. You don't want humble rappers. Plus, the guy flat out loves hip hop and music in general. You can't say that about a lot of his peers.

Yep, it's fantastic. Probably the best rap album of 2007. He's definitely chose some interesting samples, it gives the album a different feel from his other releases. I love "Flashing Lights" so much, even though I think the lyrics are a bit iffy.

The lyrics are a bit iffy throughout, not that I care because Kanye is all about the production.

Anyway, top ten for the year Hip-Hop wise definetly.

Bringing up an old thread here but the discussion interested me...

I've had Graduation for ages now, and I can still listen to it pretty much straight the way through, save for 'I Wonder' and the dreadful 'Drunk And Hot Girls'. To my mind it's an excellent effort, the stand out tracks being 'Stronger', 'Good Life', 'Can't Tell Me Nothing', 'Homecoming' and the very personal 'Big Brother' where you can really connect with him. A damn sight better than anything 50's ever produced, in my view.

Hmmm... Kayne kicked his ass all over the planet, and Fiddy is still coming out with another album. Don't let your mouth write cheques your label won't let you cash.
