I would say Jay-Z has to be one of the best of all time. This is kind of interesting if ya want to see customize shoes for Jay-Z go to www.thejgcustoms.com. I was just stumbling and found these custom nikes for Jay-z, he also had Paul Wall, Cam'ron, Memphis Bleek, and Pharrell.
The best rapper alive thing is so stupid. It should be who is the best rapper out now, and it has to be Kanye. He isn't the best rapper skills wise but he's putting out the best music by far, only Rakim started his career with three straight legitimate 4star or above albums. Lil Wayne is way overhyped, The Carter 3 is good in the moment pop rap, but does anyone really believe will be listening to Lollipop or Get money ten years from now? Hell No. He reminds me of what Coolio was back in 94-95, when Coolio was getting so much critical praise and commercail love over guys Like Nas and Biggie, but is now bascially an afterthought.
Best ever:
Honestly when you combine quality of work, commercail apeal and skills, I think it comes down to Jay-Z or Nas. Both imo have 6 legitimate 4 star or above albums, Jay obviously has become a pop coulture icon but when you look at who Nas has influenced in the Hip Hop World; Kanye, Eminem, Lupe, Jay-Z himself it evens out.
Jay gets the hipster love that nas doen't get though which real hurts him on sites like these who basicaly dismiss Nas after Illmatic. It Was Written is amazing and most people have admitted that they wrong about it (even Pitchfork). Stillmatic is overated in the Hip Hop communtiy but it has it's trancendent moments, both The Lost tapes and God's Son are brilliant. I've never gotten why God's Son doesn't get the respect it deserves, it got excellent reviews, it was amaing lyrically, had one of the better singles of the decade in Made you look but for some reason it always gets overlooked.
