You have complete sentences down, I only hope you start using complete words. Wink

Really? Bone Thugs? Don't get me wrong they have some really great jams, but lyrically they aren't all that impressive. Although they claim to have 'invented' speed rapping, I'm not sure it's really all that much of an achievement. Sure it's impressive to talk really fast, but 12 year old girls do that for fun. What generally happens in speed rap is that the lyrical content goes down because it become difficult to annunciate larger words, bringing the quality down greatly. As far as speed rap goes, few can successfully pull it off but Aesop Rock, Doseone, Busdriver, and Buck 65 come to mind.

As far as best rap group ever, I wouldn't even consider Bone Thugs. They aren't really a blip on the radar, I would pick any of these before them:

Boogie Down Productions
NWA
Public Enemy
Run DMC
Whodini
Wu Tang Clan (Of Course)
Ultramagnetic MCs
Blackstar
Gangstarr
A Tribe Called Quest
De La Soul
Cypress Hill
Salt-N-Pepa
The Roots
Atmosphere

Hell, I'd even take Cannibal Ox's one album over anything Bone-Thugs put out, that's just me though.

I'm sure I missed a few groups, and this isn't the right thread. Sorry for misdirecting it everybody but I had to put in my two pennies.

I Agree Bone Thugs are not the best rappers. Not even close

Clearly, your LIl' Wayne knowledge is lacking if that's what you think, if you haven't, check out his free mixtape Da Drought 3, you really should.

Seriously, Bone-Thugs are pretty nostalgic for me, but if your not familiar with any or the rappers or hip hop groups mentioned around here you should check 'em out. If your only reference point for music is the radio, you really are missing a lot. Most groups now have a myspace page and if you just google some of the stuff around here you do know, you'd find that there is a ton of intelligent shit going on underground. Cheers!

1st off jayz dosent come close 2 being the best because half his lyrics r biggies, camron proves it. Weezy isnt either, because he cant make new shit, personally the best rapper alive is not a single person, but whoever fits ur criteria to like it. Any southerners can not b it because they did not develop ne rap at all. New York is the founding place of Rap and the best will always come from there, the best alive depends on who u ask, u can not say 1 person beats all because there is some out there better than him, every rapper has his weak points and strong points, the strong points of sum jus out weigh others, the best rapper alive is who u can relate to the most and who can captivate your attention the most

WRONG! How is that? So Ford is the BEST car maker because they were the first? So cassete tapes are better than CDs because they were first? I suggest you check out UGK's "Quit Hatin' the South" for a bit more elaboration from my boy Pimp C. He IS missed.

No. There is NEVER an excuse to sell drugs. I grew up poor than a mug. I was the only kid in school with clothes from last year in my wardrobe. I was the last to get a Nintendo because we had to put one in lay-a-way (AFTER the price went down) and it took all year to pay it off! Our Christmas presents were donated! We were on food stamps and welfare! My brother, sister and I fought over a single piece of bread at 3am while my mother looked on in tears because she couldn't afford to feed us more than once a day. When I turned 13, I mowed lawns for money... and the money went to my mother! When I was 16, I got a REAL JOB at Pizza Hut and despite the horrible pain I was experiencing from some idiot doctor letting sweat drip onto my brain during an operation causing an awful infection that broke my entire body out in acne and made pus "sweat" from my armpits, I came in early and stayed late in order to make sure my family DIDN'T go without. THAT'S WHAT REAL MEN DO!

I hang with gangsters & thugs and they ain't all glamorous. They're pathetic. They live "score" to "score" and are always on the verge of getting things shut off or evicted. Any rapper who glamorizes a ganster's life was NEVER really a gangster. That's why I listen to Scarface. He keeps it real. Who gives a damn about metaphors and wordplay when the crap has no meaning?! If I wanted metaphors, I'd read the Bible. It has better ones than any buster out there could come up with!

MB!

It's been a while since we crossed paths, and although I may not agree with everything you say and don't have the same passion for Scarface as do you, it's good seeing you.

I'll PM later on today.

Well, that is one point I agree with Mperveuz on:

Scarface just speaks to me with songs like "Look Me In My Eyes", "Win, Lose or Draw", "Mary Jane", "I Seen a Man Die", "Inbetween Us", "On My Block", "Gangstas Don't Live", "Never", "Big Dogg Status", "Burn", "My Life" and pretty much every other song he's done. He's the ONLY rapper who's album I buy where I listen to EVERY RAP more than once. His songs are full of feeling, struggle & pain, 3 things I know alot about.

Lookin' forward to it! It HAS been awhile. Wink

One i think its pointless to argue this. People have different tastes, its basic. While i respect peoples opinions i dont get how anyone can name camron, young jezzy, or honestly wezzy F in this discussion. Honestly i look at Scarface and Tupac. Scarface is a sort of un sung legend, and, atleast to me, probably was the most realistic gangsta rapper. Tupac seems to un aprreciated on this list, the guy had such deep songs and was such a complex person that it showed on his songs. But just for fun ill list the guys that i think are the best RIGHT NOW, breathing gets to complex.

Talib Kwali is amazing to me
MF Doom has a huge fan base outside of the white nerdy guys, but the reason he makes this list is that sick beats mixed with the complex lyrics, its a rare combination.
Andre 3000 won me over as a i used to like big boi more, but andre 3000 is just so damn good.

And just a side note if eminem had just done slim shady LP and then died he would be my hands down GOAT. His lyrics is songs like Role Model and Still dont give a fuck were masterful. But he catches hate for his skin, i mean it outshined Jay so badly on Renegades that i have a prblm saying that Jay Z is the best of all time. Nas's Illmatic puts him in the conversation but i dont think theirs enough else there.

But the man who had more impact then any other artist ever wasnt even named on this forum. Dr. Dre was a cornerstone of NWA, you might of heard of um, then went to deathrow where he produced amazing albums like tupacs All Eyes on Me. Then built Aftermath which ruled the rap game at the beggining of the millenium. The dude made Eminem made 50 cent, thats why when he stepped off and took his hands off 50 got lost and his grip fell of the game. O ya he also did The Chronic and the The Chronic 2001, the album that made me love rap. A lyricist, not even close but you can make the arguement for him cause honestly, define rapper.

Just putting it out there in terms of speed,
Tech N9ne and Twista both have some incredible songs to their names.

Twista - Kill Us All, Fuck Dre < Insane

Tech N9ne - Be Jealous, Midwest Choppers, Now its On, Welcome to the Midwest... take your pick.

Um...no. Twista is garbage, Tech is okay.

And I don't even know where to start with "Sofa King." Maybe check out some of the other threads.

I would have to say that Ghostface is the most vivid and blunt rapper around right now. "Shakey Dog" shows off his talents better than anything, and i think he deserves the crown of best rapper for sure. Indisputably in my opinion.

Well, actually, GZA truly is the Genius with his rhymes, so he might have that throne as well. But what about Nas or Clipse? MF Doom is ridiculously good too.

I grew up in South Central L.A. And I can tell you, Tupac is the greatest rapper alive. Regardless of what the media tells you, he's alive.

I dunno. After he was shot 5 times in '94, he wouldn't stop talkin' about it. I'd think he'd talk even more trash after his second attempted murder. One of his boys even said they figured we'd never hear the end of it if he had survived!
