For sheer skill and rythmic flow.
Big Daddy Kane
Rakim
Snoop

Even though Snoops music isn't what it used to be, It's hard to argue with his rapping abilities.

I'm not sure if that was a silly or rhetorical or trick question, but of course "the best" rapper exists (although it's relative to each person)... rappers range from crap to being the best.

I had to think about my top 3. I really did. I had to play all the songs and analyze them to determine which MC had the best skillz. It's NOT just the lyrics. You can have lyrics, but if you don't have flow, you suck. Anyone with a liberal arts degree can put out pseudo-intellectual nerd shit on paper and flow like a wuss. Lyrics alone don't make a good MC. You gotta flow. It's a lot of natural talent, not just profound enriched vocabulary that doesn't mean much anyway.

My top 3:

1. TUPAC Shakur - The dude has the best flow of all MC's. He can talk about anything from social issues to broken families, to political injustices, to teen pregnancies and drug abuse and still sound f**king good. What sets him apart from the rest is that he pioneered the kind of rap he was famous for, and he sounds good at it.

2. Guru of Gangstarr

3. B.I.G.
