Give Olivier Messiaen's Turangalila Symphony a shot, or his Transfiguration or Chronochromie. They're definitely epic and inspirational, and he did refer to Turangalila as a song. You could also check out La Mer by Debussy, or Music for Eighteen Musicians by Steve Reich, depending what you're into. Or just blast Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. There's a record of Esa-Pekka Salonen conducting the LA Phil on that that also has Mussorgsky's A Night on the Bare Mountain on it, and it is killer.

Those are all pretty modern as things go. If you're looking for something more strictly classical/romantic Beethoven's 9th is a pretty good starting point as is the Brahms Violin Concerto in D Major.

Maybe you could be a little more specific? I was about to recommend some Godspeed, but epic and inspirational can mean a lot of things.

For me, the most inspirational piece occurs four arias into Schoenburg's beautiful and dramatic "Gurrelieder". In the aria "Ross mein Ross", Waldemar is galloping through the woods to his beloved Tove. It is the urgency of what he says combined with the potency and overwhelming orchestra which is what makes this short, ecstatic piece so imcredible. The climax is mindblowingly transcendental, as. Waldenar speaks to the leaves on a tree. "Now fall leaf, fall. I have now seen Tove.". The music soars and aches with romantic love. Many a time have I listened to this section and pleasurable shivers have shot up my spine. No other piece of classical music besides perhaps Tchaikovsky's "Pas de Deux" and "Waltz of the Flowers" even comes close to me.
