I'm looking forward to new records by The Doves, Ambulance LTD., The Shins, Son Volt (a new studio album and a best-of), Oasis, and New Order, all due in 2005. There's also supposed to be a Fountains of Wayne b-sides collection which I'm super excited about...they've got some amazing b-sides.
And coming soon (not a 2005 release but whatever!) is a US release of Aztec Camera's import only record Love as a two-fer with their excellent Stray on Wounded Bird. I'm psyched because I've been needing to get Love on CD for some time, if only for the excellent "Killermont Street" (recently covered by Fountains of Wayne!)
Ooh..I forgot the new Frames record. That's out in February, methinks.

Tons of albums on the horizon. The new Spoon, the new Sigur Ros, the new Flaming Lips, the new Beck, the new Keith Fullerton Whitman, the new Low (The Great Destroyer), the new Trail of Dead in a few weeks, the new Lightning Bolt, the new Outkast...

I've heard an advance of the new Low and it's pretty darn good. And loud!
I'm psyched about the new British Sea Power.
I could care less about Bright Eyes. Something about that group just bugs me. I can't pin it down. The cultish devotion they engender may be part of it...

I haven't heard United so I have no point of reference, but I liked Alphabetical as a nice, no-nonsense pop record. I put them in the same class as my fave French poppers, Tahiti 80. I've tried to get into Air, but I haven't loved the records. I did, however, really dig the live show circa 2001. Very Pink Floyd...bonus cool points for having the phenomenally talented Jason Falkner (ex-Jellyfish and Grays) in the band. My friends and I nerded out and waited in the lobby to talk, not to Air, but to Jason! He was pretty thrilled by that...
