I think it's odd that you say they sound like the biggest piggy-backer of the three. I think they sound the LEAST like the indie/alternative stuff that's been popular in 2004/5: they sound more like stuff that was hot a few years ago (the Strokes, the Libertines) than the stuff that's hot now (Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Interpol). Personally, I think they've got the best songs of the three. And I agree with pax...I think that the Bravery have the best chance of getting huge, given how big the Killers have become. They've got the same kind of synth-pop-retro 80's sound AND, like the Killers, they're from the US, even though they pretend to be Brits.

"Clubfoot" is a good song. The rest sounds like a subpar Primal Scream record.

Having watched the Bravery tread the now common path of unknown American band come to the UK, appear on every chat show, build up a bit of steam with the notoriously fickle UK music press and then try to return to the US as stars (phew running out of breath), I can confidently say that they are crap.
And I refuse to charge anybody for this valuable information.
As to the UK. I do quite like Bloc Party and Kaiser Chiefs. Futureheads and Maximo Park are well worth a listen though.

So, I'm now familiar with more than half of this list...including The Bravery (lame), Bloc Party (overhyped but getting better each listen), Kaiser Chiefs (really fun if not great), The Dears (good, but derivative), The Game (rap's not my thing, but he just seems like more of the same to me), and now, finally, The Dead 60's. I got a promo of the Dead 60's record, and it's a little more of the new New Wave. It sounds like the Clash...but where the Libertines are doing early Clash, the Dead 60's are taking on later Clash (circa Sandinista!) including all the reggae and oddball influences. It's pretty good, but not great, and, it goes without saying, fairly derivative. A few other (I think) British hopefuls NOT on the list...The Crimea, The Adored, Art Brut, and The Engineers. Any thoughts on these?

The title track from last year's Lottery Winners on Acid EP was one of my favorite individual tracks last year and I thought enough of the entire EP to be looking forward to their full-length due out in the States this year. They have a somewhat strange sound and their lyrics are really out of left field, but they have a heavy psychedlic/glam/brit pop bent, so I think you're going to like them a lot, pE. I saw the Dears (from Canada, yes?) open for TSOOL, and their singer has a ton of personality, they have TWO SEXY female keyboardists, and they sounded ten times better than I ever expected.

Mmmm, not helping cross-atlantic relations here are we? I take it you're okay with such 'abuse', Mr Moderator? Anyhow, have you salad-dodging, Bush-voting, friendly-fire giddy yanks got into Nine Black Alps yet? A good album and a great live act. Kaiser Chiefs will likely go places while Magic Numbers are enjoyable, though I'm sure atleast two of the members hail from the West Indies. Don't give BBC (or the NME for that matter) the time of day will you either? As much musical credibility as your Rolling Stone.

Lord Megatron is not from Our World. I will apologize for that Alien Bastard here and now though, in the name of all humankind. I also apologize to any other earthlings for any recent "perceived insults" from anywhere. The Aliens are on their own for now, unless they can prove that they can "play nice". (Keep your deathrays to yourselves, bloodsuckers!)

Aaaaah faith restored. Glad too that you were above rising to my sarcastic baiting, Mark. Kudos to Bush too for his kind (apparently off-the-cuff!!!) remarks on the atrocity in London today. Signing off to brush my teeth......!
