Personally, I'm hopeful that Trent Reznor will finish and--dare I say it?--release the new Nine Inch Nails album by the end of the year. Meanwhile, the rest of you can watch my sad display of unwarrented optimism be dashed to the ground by Trent's dogged perfectionism! A splendid time is guaranteed for all!

I've read a couple of good reviews of the new Archer Prewitt, which I look forward to.
According to Rolling Stone, there's a new Garbage album due in March. I liked the first two and was so-so on the third, but I'll probably give it a go. I like Shirley's voice and overall style...

The Jimmy Chamberlin Complex album just came out and it is actually surprisingly decent.
I have been trying to piece the album together but finding these songs is like pulling teeth. But from what I have heard I am impressed. Personally, I think the album could have used a few more songs with vocals but that is my only complaint.

We'll give you the benefit of the doubt, bilton110, but it's been a sore point on this forum when a new members first post is a plug for a band, a website, a live show, or whatever. I don't know if you have some vested interest in Kryah or if you're just a fan (my cursory glance at the Kryah discussion page seems to indicate that you're a fan trying to turn some new fans onto this band) but we're always a little wary of such posts. But if you're really a music fan and not a shill, as I suspect, then welcome aboard and we look forward to hearing more from you.

One of my favorite records of 2004 (my number 8) was an import: All Years Leaving by The Stands. A Liverpool band, with the indeliable UK seal of approval (Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller approved), they toe the line between Americana and Britpop. They're finally getting a US release this week, and I certainly recommend it. It reminds me, particularly, of another Gallagher approved record from 2001 by a band (on Noel's Sour Mash label) called Proud Mary.

Interesting. I don't read Japanese, so I have NO idea what that is, but I'm guessing it's a CD single of some sort...maybe for "Hey Julie" which was recently released as a UK single?

So far(can you guess) early fave of 2005 is the EP by The Fiery Furnaces. Perfection. Looking forward to getting the new M83, Low(hope I'm not disappointed...they's gettin' heavier) and Beck.

Sorry, forgot to mention that there's a button on the top left side of the site for browsing in English.
The CD is listed as going for ¥2,548 (about USD $25), so I was expecting it to be something a little more substantial than a single.
And, to add to the rumor-mongering, there's this entry at Amazon:
quote:Fountains of Wayne List Price: $38.49 Availability: This item will be released on January 31, 2005. You may order it now and we will ship it to you when it arrives.
No mention of any of this at the official FOW site.

According to the FOW site, the release is "confirmed" but the date is unknown.
Odd that it would get a foreign release without a simultaneous US release, but I guess that's not uncommon (the Jason Falkner demos/covers record wass like that). I'd shell out $40 for the collection.

I am liking everything I have heard by Bloc Party so far. As soon as I see their album , I will be scooping it up! I am very excited for General Patton vs The Executioners which is due out this week! New Queens of the Stone Age in March will be nice too!
"If it were beneficial, their father would produce children already circumcised from their mother. Rather, the true circumcision in spirit has become profitable in every respect." -Jesus, from the Gospel Of Thomas
The new Daft Punk is good. It's not very deep, but that's the sort of thing that always is noticed later rather than sooner. To me, it's dumb, obvious, and repetitive. That doesn't mean that it isn't good. It's great for the car, and I'd assume for parties. Bad for headphones.
The new Enon is better than Hocus Pocus, which wasn't a bad album but just an awkward one. "Knock That Door" "Drowning Appointments" and "Tilt You Up!" are great songs. Toko Yasuda makes me come with her voice alone, and I'm not even that into asian girls.
I also acquired the new Out Hud. Me rrikey vewwy much. The vocals on some of the tracks is a good addition.

Another one that just hit my radar screen: Ben Folds' new one, Songs for Silverman, is now scheduled for an April release. If that weren't enough, a re-release of Whatever and Even Amen with bonus tracks is due in March, according to his site:
It's official ..... Ben is back with his first full new album since 9/11! • It's called Songs for Silverman and will be out April 26! • "Landed", the first single, is already on some radio stations (if it's not on yours...call them and request "Landed"). It officially goes on the air and online digital stores February 1! • We are remastering Whatever And Ever Amen and adding 7 lost classic bonus tracks...out March 22!! Stay tuned for more details on all!
