The new Bright Eyes cd's are amazing.

as is the new Trail of Dead.

I'm really looking forward to the new M83, has anyone heard it? is it any good?

New Architexture in Helslinki should be great as well.

I have heard a few tracks from the upcoming m83.

It is different.From what i heard...But good.Singing....ha.Yes.

And it is now just one member. Not a duo.

I wish i could hear something in 05' from Royksopp...or maybe the Avalanches. That would be cool.

hi everyone, I'm new here and thought I would get in on the predictions for 2005.

These are the albums coming in 2005 that I have had a chance to listen to. If they are any indication, it will be a good year for my ears, as well as the year of guest collaborators.

Antony and the Johnsons- I Am a Bird Now
(Good, but not as good as the debut, which I still listen too constantly. the first of the 'special guest' albums)

Decemberists - Picaresque
(Already a contender for best of year. 'Special guest' album #2)

Magnolia Electric Co. - Trial and Error
(After hearing this I've already set aside money for when they come to Arizona in April.)

M. Ward - Transistor Radio
(Man this guy is good. My second contender for best of year and it's only Jan. 'Special guest #3)

Bonny Billy and Matt Sweeny - Superwolf
(Oldham is about as consistent a songwriter as I can think of currently writing. If you like him you won't be disapointed.)

Crooked Fingers - Dignity and Shame
(I like Eric Bachman, this seems like his best album so far, and that includes the archers albums.)

Mercury Rev - Secret Migration
(Good, as is expected from these guys. "Stuck in a rut" keeps popping into my head when I try to describe this.

Sorry that was long, but 2005 seems really good so far, and Spoon and the Flaming Lips are still to come!

Here's a story from Pitchfork (now back up and running) about the new Xiu Xiu, M27.

I don't know this one...what's it on? I've got a FOW Xmas single ("The Man in the Santa Suit")...

It's a hidden track at the end of the Alien for Xmas/Santa Suit disc. Not a song really, just a little 15-second riff a la Bill Murray's Lounge Singer from SNL.

2nd album rumors.....

A while back, I'd heard talk about Teen Machine getting back together for a followup to 2000's "After School Special".

Tsar is supposedly putting the finishing touches on their sophomore release, "Band-Girls-Money"

Available right now from Not Lame is "Enlarge Your Johnson" the second offering from a fabulous Dorset, England powerpop band called Cheese. (Their 2001 debut, "Let it Brie" made it onto several best-of-the-year lists)

I'm sure I'll think of more stuff later on for the 2005 wish list.

I read here that The Innocents are promising a new album in 2005. I only recently acquired the great collection No Hit Wonders from Down-Under for the first time, so I'm looking forward to hearing more from them.

The Tsar record is EAGERLY anticipated by me and (I'll speak for him here) also by LT!

Not Lame also has a cool Cars tribute due out soon. I've heard of Cheese, but have never heard them. I need to look into that...

A couple of other releases I'm psyched about:

The new one from the very talented Brendon Benson is out March 14. Details here:

http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/news/05-01/11.shtml#story9

Also, there's a US release for the Super Furry Animals singles comp Songbook Volume I on Beggars US on January 25. I don't have any of their older records, nor the Welsh language records. I've only gotten hip to them from the two most recent records, so this comp should be a good next step for me.

on the Doves record, out March 1. I expect it to be great, like the previous two discs and the UK rarities collection...

There's a review of the new Hood in the current issue of Under the Radar magazine. I'm not sure if they've got reviews online as well...

the blow's new album should be excellent, if she sticks to the formula of her last EP.

also Sufjan Stevens is bound to put something out this year. that ought to be great.

and broken social scene's new album.

and the new Books album as well, which is coming out some time in april.

According to a label friend, the FOW b-sides has been shelved indefinately. Bummer.
