I cannot reccommend this CD enough. It's a consistently excellent series of very poigant, touching songs that McKeown says is about a breakup she recently had. It's way more than just a breakup album, though -- it seems to deal with weightier issues: the U.S. in wartime, the sense of hopelessness people feel in times of social strife.

Another significant part of "We Will Become Like Birds" is that it was recorded in New Orleans this past December. Some of the songs, which are so brassy and pretty and Orleans-ish, are truly, truly moving.

All Music Guide gave it 4 1/2 stars, too. It's worth checking out.
