Preaching?

F@ckin' PREACHING on this site?

Are preachers even ALLOWED to use the internet?

I thought all preachers were to be kept in their cage.

Damn....now I have to get my tools and begin my journey across country (or dare I say, the WORLD) to hunt down these preachers who have put us in our place, so I can put them in THEIRS.

You all are just SO open-minded, I really just can't fathom how it came to be that you were born a human on this earth. Surely, your extreme, unparalled open-mindedness is comparable with the gods.

or maybe you just need a good fart in the mouth.

You are very possibly the wisest person at these forums. Then again, I need to check to see if Manson escaped. Wink

I don't know why, but this reminds me of the time I went to epinions.com to look at some music reviews. I went to check out some Eels reviews, and one of the reviews for Souljacker was just hysterical. The dude made up this story in first-person about some guy he knew who was travelling around the country using a vacuum cleaner to suck peoples souls out of their bodies. This story was ace, I'm telling you. I went back to reread and save it onto my computer AND IT WASN'T THERE. You can imagine my dismay. I don't know who took it down. Probably some stiff who monitors the reviews at epinions. An anti-funny man. A communist likely.

I'm not sure the mainstream would change all that much if they heard a lot of indie stuff. It seems to me that most "normal" people prefer music that they can dance to and don't have to think about (how else do you explain "My Humps?"). I do think some bands have mainstream appeal and just need the audience to breakout. Death Cab got that this past year, and people seem to like them quite a bit (thanks to the OC, maybe?). I won't be surprised if the radio starts picking up on more of these bands as their profiles get bigger through internet press. However, I don't imagine 13-year-old girls singing along to Animal Collective or Deerhoof.

I'm currently projecting that it's a battle between The Shins and The Arcade Fire for next indie breakout success story.

My money's on Spoon, though it's odd that this hasn't happened yet after five albums, and appearing on Veronica Mars is not quite on the same level as getting an endorsement from Natalie Portman or Adam Brody. The Shins I would argue have already broken out...can't wait for that album.

By this time next month you won't be able to get away from Arctic Monkeys, but that won't really be an indie success story. More of an NME success story.

I agree with those who have nominated Spoon, the Shins, and Acade Fire, but I think in terms of sound and style the New Pornographers could someday explode. I hope I'm wrong. For the record, I thought Twin Cinema was a great album.

Why, thank you. I think Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, and the Black Eyed Peas are all devils sent here to destroy us too! That's amazing! You know, I was gonna kill myself today but after reading this post, I think I'll find the will to carry on my preaching. Thanks a lot!
