Saw the Decemberists last night in Norfolk, VA. They were on! Has anyone seen them during this tour. How was the show?
They ended their show with When the War Came, which I thought was a strange choice. The show drew heavily from the Crane Wife. They did a cover song that I didn't recognize. They encored with the Mariner's Revenge, which whipped the crowd into a frenzy.
Good times for the whole family!

I'm seeing them on April 21. I've been looking forward to this for months, glad to hear they were good live.

This is the second time I've seen 'em, and this tour was better. I think they have great live material, in Crane Wife. The Island, in particular, was terrific live.
They're selling a limited edition tour poster, too. They only sell 12 or 15 at each venue, so, if you dig that sort of thing, hit the concessions early. I took mine for framing today.

Thanks! I think my brother has one of those from when they played at the Fillmore in SF a few years back. It's pretty cool.

We saw The Decemberists last night, and man, what a show! Better than both The Shins and CYHSY, which I thought were pretty great. Colin Meloy is so funny and works the crowd so well. I would definitely see them again. Also, the opening act My Brightest Diamond was fantastic. They did a really cool version of "Tainted Love". That chick (Shara) rocks.

I'm glad you liked the show. I agree about MBD. She did Tainted Love at the show we saw, and, fortunately came out and did the duet on Yankee Bayonet.
Did you know she's the Sufjan chick?
