A long time ago, the second time I saw Napalm Death, I was blown away by the openers, At The Gates. The singer's projection was awesome and the band was tight and loud. Briefly talked to one of the guys in the band while Napalm was playing, and he was super nice, it was his first trip to North America and he was having a blast. I even ended up buying a shirt which was a pretty rare event for me at that point. The album Slaughter of the Soul they were touring for, remains an essential metal album in my collection.

Another one for me was the Bring tha Noize! tour with Public Enemy and Anthrax. Both bands were excellent, with Anthrax totally surpassing my expectations, but for me, Primus stole the show that night! I had only heard Tommy The Cat maybe once or twice and hadn't even put it together when I went to the show that Primus was the band that did that song! I recall standing outside the stadium in the lineup to get in and a massive wave of bass eminated from inside that I could feel in my chest. I pushed ahead in the line and ran into the crowd to see what was going on. I have seen Primus four times since then and each time has been incredible. Definately one of my favorite live bands!

earlier this year i went to see rilo kiley during noise pop in SF, and while they were good, the support was even better. willy mason, who can't be much older than 20, sang and played like a blues master, and david dondero was hilarious and fun to listen to. good stuff.

My friend recently dragged me to a Coheed and Cambria concert, and I actually had awesome fun watching The Blood Brothers open. They really overshadowed Coheed.

I had an unexpected musical revelation when I saw Man Man open for the Fiery Furnaces. The Fiery Furnaces were good and certainly well worth the price of admission, but Man Man was unbelievable.
