Actually I don't really want to go that badly since I saw them last year. But last years concert (in council bluffs, IA) was amazing and best of all FREE! It was at a Harrah's and as we were walking in to buy tickets (they played with The Magic Numbers and Sonic Youth also), some guy randomly gave myself and my friend tickets. I guess being a frequently gambler can have its benefits. Anyways, it was a crazy show as to be expected.

-Okkervil River @ Waiting Room in Omaha, NE on Sept. 14.

-The National @ Slowdown in Omaha, NE on Sept. 19th.

-Rouge Wave @ Bottleneck in Lawrence on Oct. 20:
I'm not an expert musical judge by any means, or hell even much of a musician. But of the almost 30 concerts I've been to Rouge Wave definitely put on one of the best SOUNDING shows. Crisp, dramatic, and a perfect balance with the instruments and volume. Highly recommended.

Lots of good shit....Arcade Fire, White Stripes, Dylan, Bjork, My Morning Jacket, Spoon, LCD Sound System, Andrew Bird, PB & J, Yo La Tengo, Blond Redhead. That's just the stuff I plan to see...tons more of good stuff. Anyone want to make any recommendations of someone I should see that I don't know of, check out the website www.aclfestival.com

Hell yes. I'll be seeing that same combo on September 17th, at Red Rocks. It's a dynamite venue - like no other, espcially for the mid to fairly large sized crowd. I haven't been to a show there in ages - I think the last one was Radiohead on their Amnesiac tour, with Stephen Malkmus opening. We'll see if this will live up to that one

Has anyone seen or are going to see Grizzly Bear?

I am seeing them in October and really looking forward to it based on performances I've seen on You Tube and their albums, of course.

I was going to start a "Best Concerts in 2007" in the 2007 forum, but I'll include it here instead. Best shows so far, and upcoming....

1. Amon Tobin with Patrick Watson(opening) - awesome show, Tobin was 100 times better than when I first saw him in Toronto back in 2002. Patrick Watson was the surprise though, and bought his latest CD at the show. The experimental jams aren't on his CD's, but that is what I remember forever from the show. Tobin had an extended set and felt like he wouldn't stop all night if he had a choice. The Killer's Vanilla was great live!!! 10/10

2. The Police - I've seen 3 shows this year of artists I have always wanted to see but never have. The Police were the best of them (also...Van Morrison, Bjork...the other two on the list). I did'nt stop singing once... 9.5/10

3. Bjork - very short outdoor set (under 1 & 1/2 hours) but very entertaining and loved the horn section. 8/10

4. Barenaked Ladies - tickets were a gift from X-mas, and went in knowing I wouldn't pay to go, but was a fun concert and the beers made it more fun...the single"Easy" was a standout. 7.5/10

5. Van Morrison - Very tight set, he even brought out the sax. No encore. No emotion. Still, I finally got to see Van the Man!!! 7/10

The two shows I have tickets for will probably take the top two spots though....

Wilco - Aug 20th!!! Finally coming to Vancouver!!! I saw them open for REM in 2003 (outdoors). Saw them on the Ghost tour (indoor...good show, but they didn't play Muzzle of Bees!!!). Now they are playing outdoors again(yeah!!)and they better play Muzzle.....

Flaming Lips - Sept (indoors though...drat!) Saw them during Yoshimi tour, which is one of my top alltime conceerts(Modest Mouse opened...how do ya like that). Should be good.

I think Andrew Bird's coming back in november so i'll probably go to that (again!) if i'm in town (which i probably won't due to a wedding in the States)

i forgot The Decemberists too, in february. come to think of it, this is a really good list. if only i'd seen Modest Mouse in june. i was out of town. darn it!

Wolf Parade, Spoon, and New Pornographers, all in the span of one week at the start of September.

Caught Arcade Fire in June, as well.

Bjork & M.I.A. (who happens to be supporting Bjork), Also Blonde Redhead.

Tentatively, I have plans to see Feist in September and Spoon for the second time in October.

The only two I actually have tickets to are Interpol and Devotchka in October.

I was going to go to the Monolith Festival in Sept., but my wife informed me she was flying us to Chicago for my 30th b-day. I also may catch Arcade Fire with LCD in Sept.

Probably's include The Raveonettes and Metric.

Maybe's include The National, Voxtrot, Midlake, and Of Montreal.

I'm also considering seeing Deerhoof. I can't stand them, but I'm curious about seeing them live. If the tickets are cheap, I may go for it.

I would highly recommend against this. I saw them last year when they opened for Radiohead and they were anything but good. They basically suck live and sound even worse than they do on their studio albums. I can't stand them either and I thought the same thing when I found out that they were opening for Radiohead, "Hmm, that should be interesting." However, they were horrific and I couldn't wait for the real show to start.

Thanks for the warning. I didn't see if they were coming with anyone else worth seeing, but if not, I'll probably stay away.

I saw the Cure a couple of nights ago. They were really good. Although, I'm not sure we needed all 3 hours.
