Nels put on a great show with the solos. Tweedy's voice was the best i've heard. Via Chicago and Spiders both knocked me out...F yeah!!!
2. Amon Tobin with Patrick Watson(opening) - awesome show, Tobin was 100 times better than when I first saw him in Toronto back in 2002. Patrick Watson was the surprise though, and bought his latest CD at the show. The experimental jams aren't on his CD's, but that is what I remember forever from the show. Tobin had an extended set and felt like he wouldn't stop all night if he had a choice. The Killer's Vanilla was great live!!! 10/10
3. The Police - I've seen 3 shows this year of artists I have always wanted to see but never have. The Police were the best of them (also...Van Morrison, Bjork...the other two on the list). I did'nt stop singing once... 9.5/10
4. Bjork - very short outdoor set (under 1 & 1/2 hours) but very entertaining and loved the horn section. 8/10
5. Barenaked Ladies - tickets were a gift from X-mas, and went in knowing I wouldn't pay to go, but was a fun concert and the beers made it more fun...the single"Easy" was a standout. 7.5/10
Flaming Lips - Sept (indoors though...drat!) Saw them during Yoshimi tour, which is one of my top alltime conceerts(Modest Mouse opened...how do ya like that). Should be good.
Changed #1....Wilco was great Monday night...wish you all were there...

I think Wilco puts on one of the best shows in the business these days. They're also the best show I saw this year, and Spiders was the high point as well. I've said it before, but I really think A Ghost is Born translates live better than any other Wilco album.
I'm hoping to see the Hold Steady/Art Brut show, the Dylan/Costello show, and the Shins/Spoon show. Now how is that for a series of shows?

Dizzee Rascal Dinosaur Jr. M.I.A. Mogwai The Shins The Hives Arcade Fire
that was day one of the Rock en Seine festival. quick highlights: M.I.A. was awesome live. Paper Planes is one my favorite songs of the year and live it's even better. She did the Sunshine dance. Everyone went nuts when she sang Galang.
J.Mascis waited a whole two minutes before going into the first of many solos during Dino Jr's set. Lou Barrow said "Hi, we're Dinosaur Jr. and we're ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooold" hahaha for old timers they rocked out way better than most of the younger bands of the day
Arcade Fire: they put all their money in their props it seems like. they were all right
the best of the day was The Hives!!! man can they put on an amazing rock show! Pelle Almqvist is hilarious, he must've said at least 20 times that they were the Hives and that we (the public) loved them awesome hour of shove it in your face punk rock, with class too!

days two and three were shorter, i was too lazy to go see everyone so i just stuck with the day closers: Tool on saturday night (best of the festival imo) and Björk on sunday night to close out the festival. it was the first time i saw her live so that was exciting but i was a bit disappointed by the whole thing. i figured i'd rather see her in a small, theater-sized venue than outdoors so that her voice could be really enjoyed. last night, the slow numbers which she would carry mostly on her voice (don't get me wrong, she's got an amazing voice) were kind boring IMO. but at the end she closed out the show with three high energy numbers where everyone went wild and it almost felt like we were in a rave. good way to close out a festival i think.
but still, Radiohead was better last year. hard to top that though.

Agreed -- on everything you said. AGIB happens to be my favorite album of theirs and it sounds even better live.

I'll be seeing Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Girl Talk, Of Montreal, and M.I.A.
I'm probably most excited to see M.I.A. because she's hot right now, and she's known to have a combustable personality. It'd be great to see her melt down live.
