I caught them in a small venue in DC last night. I have not heard much of their music except some of secret wars, but I had heard they were really good live..."they talked about getting inside the O" and that "it was their last show with three guitarists" so I smoked a joint with my friend and was so pumped to watch that
I skipped the metro home.
And...it was kinda terrible. And I don't really understand why. They started with a song that was kinda of cool but didnt go anywhere except some guitar noodling and a symbol crash here and there. After like 4 minutes they did a little metal bridge and went back to the same thing. Of the million ways I thought the song coulda gone that wasn't it.

Technically their very precise, but when they stopped doing their cool but overextended to boredom rhythms and did songs their writing was proved to be pretty bad. It just all seemed kind of mindless, I enjoyed watching the drummer who was just ridiculous but even though I was high I wasn't going to be satisfied with just a cymbal crash. They played caeser's column which I remember being a highlight, and it also sounded no good.

I just don't understand it. Am I missing something? They seem to be able to come up with a good riff but beyond that they just seemed to be a little lost. My friend who had never heard of them finally had us leave..but I was still a little dizzy from trying to figure out what just went wrong. My friend commented that it was like techno music, all buildup that was supposed to leave are minds blown but in actuality is just shallow. Anybody a fan and/or seen them live?
