So, As most of you know, I live in Alaska and we don't often get many good live acts that stop by. But I just discovered that a few weeks from now The Mountain Goats are going to be doing a CD release party on campus. It would cost $30 for my wife and I to go, and I'm really not extremely interested in the group's work. I like a few of their songs, and I can't say I hate the rest of what I've heard. It's just a lot of money, and not really a convenient time for us.
I was wondering what you guys think. Bright Eyes stopped by last semester, and although I was too swamped to even consider going, I really don't feel like I missed much. But I would really like to see a decent live act.
Maybe I should listen to a few more tracks from Heretic Pride?

Heretic Pride? Isn’t that not out for another two weeks? Oh Well. So I haven’t heard their new one but I would definitely go see them. $30 isn’t that much for a band that has been around sin the mid-90s and one that has released more than ten solid albums. I really love 2005’s The Sunset Tree and a bunch more of their other albums. It would be a no brainer for me.
As for missing Bright Eyes, I would argue that you did miss a lot. He is a great singer-songwriter that is immensely talented and has also released a bunch of amazing albums. I would love to see him live because they say he is great.
----- Never say you miss her, never say a word. And do everything she'd never do.

Yeah. I think had it been possible (time-wise/money-wise) I would have gone to see Bright Eyes. But I wouldn't call myself a fan.
And all I've heard of 'Heretic Pride' is the song that they released the video for. It was a great video, but I don't think I would listen to the song much on it's own.
Maybe this is an opportunity to grow an appreciation for The Goats that I obviously don't have at the moment.
