Great show tonight.

Sufjan brought along four backing musicians/vocalists (2 male, 2 female) who traded around a variety of instruments: guitar, bass, banjo, piano, harmonium, glockenspiel, trumpet, trombone, etc., etc.

Not positive, but I believe these were the same folks who helped out Sufjan in the recording studio.

Played to a nearly full auditorium (a little over 1,000 seats)

Set list included about half of the "Greetings from Michigan" album and a few tunes from "Seven Swans".

Didn't get to hear "Detroit", but Sufjan did give us an early listen to the song "Chicago" from his upcoming "Illinois" album.

Opening act Br. Danielson got a respectable, but not overly enthusiastic, reception. A lot of folks in this MidWestern college audience just couldn't get past the sight of him wearing a fruit-laden tree costume for the entire show.

Maybe they're more used to that sort of thing in New York...

I thought Sufjan's fans were completely used to the Danielson Family antics?

This was a great show. I got to eat dinner with Daniel Smith after the set of concerts on Saturday.

I think the hushed rendition of "Chicago" he did live is slightly better than the more driven album version.
