I'm considering flying out to California for day two of this years Coachella festival. I'd be going with my 14 year old son. We've never been, and the lineup seems awesome. Has anyone been? Where do you fly in? Where do you stay? How do you get to the festival grounds from the hotel? Is it worth all the trouble? I'd appreciate any advice! Smiler

coachella is pretty crazy. i would imagine youd fly into ontario airport, but lax isnt too far away. theres plenty of hotels in the area, but you can also camp at the festival grounds. its worth the trouble if you dig the music.

Thanks for the advice. I totally dig the lineup. Especially Saturday. Fully half of the bands are or have been "my favorite band" at one point or another!

I went to Coachella a few years ago and have a few bits of advice:

1. Drink water. Lots of it.
2. Plan your schedule ahead of time so you can hit the bands you absolutely HAVE to see (I know, with this year's line-up, you're bound to miss some, but try your best).
3. Be prepared to be exhausted at the end of every day, good idea to camp on site (I tried driving a decent distance after each day and definitely wished I hadn't).
4. Did I mention water?

Anyway, hopefully it won't be as hot as it was when I went in 2004 (I think I saw around 5 people pass out from the heat just in my immediate vicinity at various stages). This year looks incredible, enjoy!

Hell Yes. I am flying back to the states from Helsinki in April to go to this. It's going to be amazing. Rage against the fucking Machine getting back together after 7 years is not something to miss. gah so excited.

In case anyone was left wondering, I decided not to go after all. Too long a trip for too short a time at the concert, and we'd have to be back at work/school on Monday. To all going, have a great time, and report back on the highlights for us!
