I don't know what to say, but you're right, some others will. When and where is the show?

I've seen them three times. Each album has gotten further away from simple rock/metal songs, and each tour has progressively gotten more artsy. From seeing them outdoors with big mosh pits, to sitting down watching something akin to cirque de soleil! If you're not a metal fan, the live performance is much more akin to prog rock with some heavier parts, and should be enjoyable regardless of your normal musical tastes. Tool are an excellent live band!

I saw Tool live on the Lateralus tour back in '01 b/c some of my friends convinced me to go. It was very showy and quite elaborate (naked people hanging from the ceiling, etc.), but ever since Undertow, their music has started to grate on me like crazy... Needless to say, seeing them live didn't turn me into a fan. I didn't stay for their performance at Coachella. I heard them as I was walking out... It just is not for me...

The most gripping part about a Tool live experience are the visuals of it. They're done by their guitarist, whose worked on major Hollywood movies (T2, Jurassic Park, etc.) doing special effects. These visuals, combos of Brothers Quay, David Lynch, psychedelic color visualizations and so on, are worth the price of admission alone. Seeing Danny Carey's drum set and watching him play it is another great aspect. I say go. It really is one hell of a show.
