Has anyone seen Battles in concert? I've got tickets to see them next week. Just wondering what I can expect. I like the 'Mirrored' CD, although I think some of their songs can get a bit tedious at times.

I have never seen them live, but I have a feeling their songs won't seem quite so "tedious" in a live setting. You will most likely come away appreciated their longer songs more than you did before.

If you haven't checked out the videos for "Atlas" and "Tonto" they are two of the best music videos this year.

I saw them in a small club in KC a few months ago. We were right next to the stage. Bring earplugs. It's an insane show - in a good way. The drummer is incredible.

I'm looking for Russian Militant Black Metal. Semi-good production is a plus, as are clean vocals (if kept to a minimum). Also looking for vocals in Russian. Basically like a Russian version of Absurd...

Absolutely sick live. Shadrach your exactly right- they can be a little hard to get into on record but the songs are incredible in a live setting. Helped me fall in love with the band

Who? The Fucking Liars that's who.

The best band I have seen live this year. Tyondai Braxton is incredible. Loud, precise, intricate, and bursting with energy (definitely more immediacy live than on the album)...yeah, I am pretty obsessed with Battles. I was listening to Mirrored pretty regularly before I saw them, but afterwards I was listening to that alone for about a week straight. Maybe best album of the year?

there is a bit of jamming, but you can definitely make out the individual songs. i don't think they improvise much at all.

I saw them at the Big Day Out in sydney Australia on the 26th of january. There was a little bit of messing around for song transitions, but no more than any other band. Everyone went crazy to atlas. I even missed silverchair and was late for arcade fire because of them.

The head of state has called for me, but I don't have time for him
