In my mind, next to Woodstock, the greatest collection of diverse music in my younger days was the US Festival in 1983. I remember we couldn't stop talking Judas Priest and the rest of the artists on Heavy Metal Day (Remember when Halford rode in on the chopper??? That was coooool). Here's a lineup if you've never seen it or may have forgotten... Any memories??

My brother and I only went to Day 1, which I was impressed with enough to list it at My Top Ten Shows at that thread. I definitely remember the drive and the tons of people. The best thing though, was as the night went on, we could more easily get towards the stage, so that halfway through The Clash, we were close. I'd already seen The Clash and Oingo Boingo before, but that was the only time that I saw the rest, so I'm glad I got to see The English Beat and The Stray Cats. No matter what anybody thinks now, all the bands basically put on good shows, unless my Alzheimer's is kickin' in.

I went to Heavy Metal Day and had a great time. All the bands put on a great show with the exception of Van Halen... Well the problem was actually David Lee Roth. He was obnoxiousley drunk. It was quite dissapointing to see what little regard he had for his fans. I still can't stand the guy to this day.
